I’m going to say something that might feel uncomfortable at first…
School isn’t broken.
It’s actually working exactly the way it was designed to.
The problem is…
it was designed for a world that no longer exists.
A world that needed people to:
– follow instructions
– sit still
– do repetitive tasks
– not question authority
So what happens today?
Kids slowly learn to:
• stop asking bold questions
• avoid taking risks
• focus on “getting it right” instead of thinking deeply
• measure themselves by grades instead of growth
And here’s the part that’s hardest to see as a parent:
When your child succeeds in that system…
they are often being rewarded for the very traits that will limit them later.
Not always — but often.
So the real question becomes:
👉 Is the environment helping your child become who they’re meant to be…
Or shaping them into something else entirely?
Watch this video and see if it shifts how you think about it.
I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts after.

David Friedberg and Chris Williamson weren’t talking about our school.
But they might as well have been.
They’re describing something deeper than curriculum…
They’re describing agency.
The ability for young people to think for themselves.
Take ownership.
And step into responsibility.
Most people still don’t see it yet.
But when you hear conversations like this, you start to realize:
The future of education may look very different from the past.

Voucher Info Night – TONIGHT- Tuesday at 7:00 PM
As you know, Acton Bee Cave has been approved to receive state education voucher (ESA) funds. We’re hosting an informational meeting this Tuesday at 7:00 PM to walk through what this means and to answer questions.
📍 Acton Bee Cave
14913 Murfin Road
Please feel free to invite friends or neighbors who have been curious about Acton but may have felt it wasn’t financially possible before.
A few important reassurances we want to name upfront:
• Our studios, culture, and learning model are not changing
• We will continue to be selective about right-fit families
• This simply allows us to support families who align with our values but couldn’t previously access this experience
This meeting is about clarity, transparency, and calming concerns, not pressure or change for change’s sake. We’re excited to steward this opportunity thoughtfully and in a way that protects what makes Acton Bee Cave special.
Hope to see you Tuesday at 7:00!

Our Valentines Dance isn’t about fancy outfits or knowing how to dance. It’s about parents and children sharing a moment. Friends inviting friends. Kids feeling brave enough to step onto the dance floor. No pressure. No perfection. Just music, laughter and meaning. This is the kind of community we care deeply about building. Please come join us!
I’ve watched these heroes choose to do hard things again and again, not for rewards not to prove anything to anyone else but to find out who they are when it gets uncomfortable.
Survivor request taught wilderness skills,yes.
but the deeper learning was internal how to stay present, how to trust yourself how to keep going without losing yourself this kind of formation can’t be rushed or fakeit. It’s built one brave choice at a time I’m deeply proud of these young humans.

🌸 Yesterday, a Lotus Bloomed — And It Filled me with Gratitude
At the end of last year, I shared the parable of the lotus seed—how it rests in darkness for months, hidden beneath the surface, full of potential. Everything it needs to become a beautiful flower is already inside. It waits. It transforms. It slowly reaches for the light… and one day, it blooms.
Yesterday, in our own pond, I saw our first lotus flower open.
In that moment I felt gratitude, joy, and a quiet sense of this is what growth looks like.
This little flower did exactly what it was created to do:
rise from the murky water, push toward the light, and reveal something breathtaking.
And instantly, I thought of our learners.
So much of their growth is invisible—internal and unglamorous, happening in the dark places we don’t always get to see. They wrestle, stretch, struggle, and strengthen. And then suddenly, there’s a moment of radiance: a courageous choice, a new skill, a spark of independence, a glimpse of who they’re becoming.
The lotus blooming wasn’t just beautiful.
It felt like a reminder that the hard, quiet, unseen parts of growth are working.
Felt so grateful to have first responders come teach us how to care for ourselves and others in an emergency. The stories, demonstration and hands on practicing gave us all confidence to help when called in.
Sparkies (ages 4-6) have worked for 5 weeks to present this Art Show to our community. The pride in their eyes makes my heart swell.

Day #1 of setting up shelters for Survival Quest.
These learners and practicing survival skills for six weeks and their final test is NOT a multiple choice test, but instead they're going to sleep outside in their own shelter.
It will be a school survival campout at our new campus.
Will they be able to start their own fire, setup their own shelter, forage for edible food on their own.... We will see!
