Research shows that afterschool programs influence graduation rates just as much as what takes place in the classroom. UnboxEd is our little corner of that world.
We are a (nonprofit-pending) team of educators and game designers who adapt tabletop games into engaging, enriching afterschool lessons that ignite students to become independent learners.
UnboxEd offers a fun, student-led approach t
o developing skills and exploring ideas not found in standardized curriculum. Our 90-minute classes range from Entrepreneurship and STEM to Creative Writing and Social Skills. Our games transform content into applied knowledge, and small group size allows instructors
to focus on every student's strengths and interests. We present an alternate lens for what education can look like. Combining research and play, we increase engagement, craft systems that reward curiosity and grow confidence, and adapt content to each student's needs.
We envision a model that empowers students to design their own learning experiences.
