🍽️ Sensory Eating Series • Part 3 of 3

Helping a child with eating isn't about finding the "right" food. It's about creating the right environment.
Calm meals.
No pressure.
Lots of opportunities to look, touch, smell, and explore.
Progress often comes one small step at a time.
If mealtimes regularly end in tears, your concerns are valid. You don't have to navigate them alone.
💛 Save this post for the days when mealtimes feel especially hard.

🍽️ Sensory Eating Series
• Part 2 of 3
Every picky eater isn't the same.
Some children are going through a normal developmental phase.
Others are communicating that eating feels genuinely difficult.
Knowing the difference can change how we help.
💛 Save this post for future mealtimes.

🍽️ Sensory Eating Series
• Part 1 of 3

Eating doesn't start with a bite.
Sometimes progress looks like looking.
Sometimes it looks like touching.
Sometimes it simply means a child can sit beside a new food without distress.
Every small step counts.
💛 Save this for the next challenging mealtime.

Research shows that everyday conversations play an important role in language development.

The good news? You don't need flashcards, fancy toys, or long lessons.

Sometimes all it takes is asking a different question.

Save this for later and try one tonight with your toddler. ❤️

"They're not talking because they speak two languages..."

Have you heard this before?
The idea that bilingualism “causes” speech delays in toddlers is not supported by research.

What is supported by research?

Researchers like Fred Genesee, Ellen Bialystok, and François Grosjean have spent decades showing that bilingual children develop language normally when BOTH languages are considered together.

Bilingualism is not confusion.
And toddlers do not become language delayed simply because they were exposed to two languages early.

✨ Speech & language happens all day long — not just during “learning time.”
Baths. Snacks. Grocery trips. Car rides. Books. Playtime. 🤍
Those everyday little moments help build connection, communication, and confidence.
You don’t need perfect words or fancy activities.
Just talk, listen, notice, and connect. 🌱
Small moments. Big impact.

Hey parents 😊
My speech pathologist friend shared these communication/gesture visuals and thought they were honestly really helpful. Sometimes we focus so much on words that we forget communication starts way before full sentences.
Pointing, waving, clapping, “uh oh,” peekaboo, gestures, sounds, facial expressions… all of that counts.
I especially liked the exclamatory words page because those little playful sounds are actually part of early communication too.
Posting these here free in case they help another family ❤️

There’s a difference between tutoring and targeted instruction 🤍

Tutoring often focuses on homework help or extra practice.
Targeted instruction looks deeper—at why a child may be struggling and what skills they actually need to move forward.
Instead of more practice, it’s the right practice—based on where your child is right now.
That’s what leads to steady, meaningful progress.
This is the approach I use with my students from the very beginning.
If you’ve been wondering what kind of support your child needs, message me and I’d be happy to talk through it with you 🤍
