The University of Colorado's Department of Bioengineering is the first program of its kind in Colorado. Housed in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, we span both the CU Denver Auraria campus in downtown Denver and the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. The consolidation of the CU Denver and the CU Anschutz Medical Campuses provides unprecedented instructional resources in bioengineering and research opportunities in health sciences. Students have many opportunities to learn from clinicians and engineers and to perform research or medical device design in world-class hospitals and clinical research labs. More exciting news! ✨

Drs. Brisa Peña and Kristyn Masters in the Department of Bioengineering at Anschutz were awarded funds from the Strategic Infrastructure for Research Committee (SIRC) for their application “Acquisition of Optics11Life Pavone Nano-Indenter for Biomechanical Characterization of Live Cells, Tissues, and Biomaterials in Health and Disease”. The SIRC program supports multi-departmental facilities that are strategic to the School of Medicine research mission, and this award will support innovative mechanobiological research across campus to help investigators study diseases ranging from heart failure to cancer.
