This week is Classified Staff Appreciation Week. We have something planned each day to recognize and celebrate them. These are the people that you see in the front office, cleaning the schools, serving lunches, supervising car lane and buses, helping students in classes and so much more. They are the glue that holds our school together. If you see them please be sure to express your gratitude. Here's a picture of a couple of them in honor of all of them.

The Great Kindness Challenge Week was filled with lots of activities focused on kindness and lots of observed kindness between students. Recognizing that there are times when students can absolutely act in unkind ways and yet want to acknowledge that the majority of their interactions are based on kindness. This week was a great emphasis on kindness and it was amazing to see it played out in so many ways. Intermediate school students are amazing!

Another kindness activity this week was creating kindness paper chains. Students wrote words of kindness onto strips of paper that were then turned into long paper chains that will be displayed in each grade levels hallway. Our kids are really shining their kindness!

Today is the first day of the Great Kindness Challenge Week. We talked today about how kindness is not meanness but it's also not the absence of meanness, rather it is being kind on purpose. Intentional kindness is the message. We asked students if they can commit to kindness to trace their hands and write their name in the middle. Then we are going to make a collage of all the hands in our cafeteria celebrating our kindness commitment.
