There aren’t many people who can fill the Benson Hotel reception space – but then again there aren’t many people who have advanced the pharmacy profession like our very own Joe Saseen, PharmD, Professor and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs.

The event honored Dr. Saseen’s retirement from CU Pharmacy after 31 years of unparalleled service. In addition to pharmacy faculty and campus leaders, friends and colleagues from across the state showed up to share stories of humor and lasting impact.

Be watching for a feature story next week highlighting Dr. Saseen’s three decades of achievements. Congratulations, Dr. Saseen!

One of the most memorable parts of my PharmEspaña elective was getting a firsthand look at pharmacy practice across Spain! We explored a variety of pharmacy career paths and healthcare settings, including:

🏥 Hospital pharmacy tour at Hospital Universitario de Getafe
🎓 Team presentation at the University of Granada on pharmacy careers in the United States
📚 Visit to the Pharmacy Museum at the University of Granada
🚚 Tour of Bidafarma, a pharmaceutical distribution company
💊 Community pharmacy visit
🧬 Stem cell bank visit to learn about research careers

This experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the global impact of pharmacy!

¡Qué experiencia tan inolvidable aprendiendo cómo se vive la farmacia en España! 🇪🇸

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year's CU Pharmily Fun Day. From great food and games to laughter and connection, it was a wonderful celebration of the culture of community and well-being we continue to build at CU Anschutz Pharmacy.

Events like these remind us of the importance of taking time to connect, recharge, and support one another. We're grateful to our faculty, staff, students, families, and friends who made the day so memorable, and to the volunteers and organizers who helped bring it all together.

Here's to fostering a culture of wellness, belonging, and connection. 💛🖤

Out of close to 100 student orgs on the CU Anschutz campus, our very own National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) won the Student Organization of the Year award! 🏆 And . . . Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Dr. Michael Wolcott, won the 🏆 Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award!

Such a great example of the stellar students and faculty that make CU Anschutz Pharmacy such an extraordinary place!

🇪🇸 Hola, amigos! I just got back from my PharmEspaña elective and had the best time exploring Spain! Here are a few highlights from the trip: a city tour of Madrid, an unforgettable flamenco night, visits to local olive oil factories, a beautiful sunset in Málaga, and our farewell dinner with the group.

Stay tuned for more PharmEspaña content next week as I share what pharmacy practice looks like in Spain! 💊

For more than a century, ketogenic diets have helped reduce seizures in people with epilepsy. Yet one important question remains: Why do they work?

A recent feature highlights research from the CU Anschutz Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and insights from Professor Manisha Patel, PhD, on how understanding the biological mechanisms behind ketogenic therapies could help shape future treatment options for patients.

We're proud to see Kelsey Schwander, PharmD, CBIS, Clinical Assistant Professor at CU Anschutz Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, featured in the April 2026 issue of Pharmacy Today, the official publication of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).

As cannabis use continues to grow, Dr. Schwander is helping advance evidence-based education and preparing healthcare professionals to have informed conversations about safety, risks, and patient care.

A full-circle moment. 🎓

In 1999, Dr. Jacci Bainbridge celebrated Phuong Nguyen's graduation from CU Anschutz Pharmacy.

This spring, they reunited on campus at Pathways from the Past, a CU Pharmacy alumni event, where Bainbridge, CU Anschutz Pharmacy alumna (Class of 1995), faculty member, and nationally recognized pharmacy researcher, returned to share insights from her current work.

Years later, their connection is a reminder of what makes the CU Pharmacy community so special: great mentors, lasting relationships, and a commitment to supporting one another long after graduation.
