GRADUATING VETERANS:::
With our recent partnership with CSU Ft. Collins we have been given the opportunity to provide military stoles for graduation. Unfortunately, the stole would not arrive on time for actual graduation ceremonies, but it’s still a nice remembrance piece to set yourself apart.
Fill out the survey below sponsored by CSU Ft. Collins where you can register to have a stole sent to you!

Read our SVO President’s story here!!
"As a sergeant in the U.S. Army, I was stationed for two years near the Korean Demilitarized Zone, responsible for helping safeguard the democracy of South Korea under constant threat from the authoritarian state of North Korea. During that time, from 2012 to 2014, missiles occasionally soared over our heads and splashed down in the Sea of Japan. It was then – as I understood the reality of North Korea’s military capabilities – that I realized I was at the front lines of democracy for both South Korea and the United States."

Both, And
I just wanted to share in a recent revelation I had while speaking with our SVO members.
One of my colleagues once told me "both, and" and it struck me like a lightening bolt. I was casually discussing with her about my life and how things were going, overall, pretty good, but that there were a few 'stains' on my experience. I couldn't accurately describe how I was doing because I had good things and bad things mixed in together. I wanted to lean toward saying that I wasn't doing well, but there were still good things in life holding me back from committing to that. Then, she told me "both, and." Things can be BOTH bad AND good at the same time.
Naturally, I think that when we as humans experience one bad thing, it can have an impact on the rest of our lives. One bad thing equals a slew of bad things. This is often referred to as Black And White Thinking, a common cognitive distortion that many people fall into. This world is complex. Not everything is always good or always bad. There is a grey scale somewhere in the middle that we are often navigating through. We humans are complex. It is okay for a slew of things to not be going your way... but maybe something really brightened your day.
Accepting this grey, middle area can be hard. Often times, though, it allows for you to really connect with what is happening around you. Lean into the "both, and" idea. Embrace it. Nothing is ever straightforward or easy to describe, and that is okay.
