We help educators confidently implement structured literacy through simple routines that connect PA, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and writing into instruction that actually flows.

If I could hand every educator just one thing, it would be instructional confidence.

Because when you have confidence in your instruction, everything feels easier. You don't question your approach, your lessons, your data, or your ability to make a massive impact in the world 🙌

You just know you're on the right track.

And what's important to know is that having confidence in your instruction doesn't mean you have to know everything. It doesn't mean you need to feel 100% certain about every student. It doesn't mean you need to know every reading or grammar rule.

Having confidence in your instruction actually means knowing where to begin your instruction, knowing what to teach and how it actually connects to "real-life" reading and writing, knowing what to look for before moving on, and maybe most importantly knowing how to explain what you're doing and why.

When you have that, you can simply show up and keep doing your thing...answering questions from students, parents, admin, etc. as they come up and it makes literally everything easier.

If you're looking for help in doing that, we've got you. Comment ELEMENTARY for a link to our free structured literacy intervention training for K-6 or SECONDARY for a link to our training for secondary students (6th - 12th graders).

There’s no doubt that you’re an incredible educator. But if you’re finding yourself wondering if there’s an easier way to make it all work, I promise there is.

What if this year’s literacy intervention could feel both easy and effective?

What if, in order to get meaningful and lasting results for your students (without burning yourself out in the process), you just needed a clear structure, lessons that supported that structure, and a system that didn’t require you to keep reinventing the wheel every single week?

At one point in my literacy intervention career, I realized I couldn’t keep trying to pull everything together from multiple sources. It just wasn’t sustainable. And while it produced short-term gains for my students, those gains didn’t always hold.

This is exactly why we created Delivering SMARTER Intervention.

It gives you everything you need for systematic, structured literacy intervention so you can feel confident that your students are getting the instruction they need to close the gap and make progress that lasts.

It’s all about ready-to-use lessons that help you provide explicit instruction across all areas of literacy, so you can spend less time planning and more time connecting with your students (or maybe even getting a little time back for yourself!) because it’s already put together.

It also includes tools to support diagnostic-prescriptive teaching, including a brief placement assessment and progress monitoring tools. So not only can you feel confident in your instruction, but you can clearly communicate what you’re doing and why with parents, colleagues, administrators, and even your students themselves.

Let this be the year that it finally all clicks.

And when you join now through August 23rd, you’ll also receive our limited-time Back to School Implementation Bonus, including:

• A printed DSI Instructor Manual, so you don’t have to print it yourself
• A Custom Implementation Plan, where I’ll personally review your setting and provide guidance on what to focus on first
• Access to our Live DSI Kickoff Series, with live calls where you can connect with other educators using the program, work through implementation, and get your questions answered

I'm in the process of moving my classroom space, which has meant taking things apart, putting things back together, and it's been a huge pain in the butt, honestly.

And I realized literacy intervention can sometimes feel like putting Ikea furniture together.

With Ikea...you're pretty sure you have all the pieces, and in theory all the pieces should work and hopefully fit together. But as you're putting it all together, you realize it would be better if the directions were just a little clearer. And by the time you're done, you're wondering whether something might fall apart (either now or in the not-so-distant future). At least that's how it works when I build Ikea furniture.

With literacy intervention, you have your phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and writing activities. In theory, all those pieces should come together. But as you're building your intervention plans each week, you're left feeling like the pieces aren't fully connecting or landing for your students, and you're hoping that with all this effort you and your students have put in, the growth will be there.

If you're feeling that way, you're absolutely not alone; we've all been there building the "Ikea Literacy Intervention Lessons" before, but if you're ready for the pre-built and tested version, we've got you!

I always felt like this was an either/or situation. Either my literacy intervention could be easy to prep and deliver or my students could get the best results from the intervention.

Not both.

Because I thought the only way my students could get the best results was if I created individualized lessons for every group.

But, actually, it's not about that. It's about:

→ Following a systematic structure with a scope and sequence for instruction

→ Providing lessons that explicitly teach the concepts in a routine that doesn't become overwhelming for students

→ Using a diagnostic-prescriptive approach that allows me to differentiate within a framework so I'm not rebuilding from scratch over and over.

And if this is the year that you're ready for literacy intervention to be both easy and effective, go to https://smarterintervention.com/dsi-curriculum to learn more.

My favorite Peloton instructor says,

"Yes? or Yes?"

We're talking about:

→ What may be getting in the way of consistent student growth so you can start to maximize literacy outcomes

→ What a connected, structured literacy lesson looks like from start to finish so you can reduce planning time

→ How to evaluate your own literacy block so you have absolute confidence in your instruction

You don't want to miss this; it's free, and it will set you up for a year of successful literacy intervention.

Want to know the number one thing I want in my workday as a literacy interventionist?

I mean, other than a strong cup of coffee and maybe a croissant?

Confidence in my instruction. Full stop.

Now hear me out: having confidence in my instruction allows me to

→ Walk into my lessons feeling 100% prepared (because I'm not constantly reinventing them)

→ Know the purpose of each of my activities (so I know I'm not missing something important...or adding things that aren't actually necessary)

→ Answer questions from families, colleagues, admin without ever feeling defensive in any way

→ Be fully present for my students (because I know the lessons will take care of themselves)

→ Leave work without replaying every decision (because I know what I'm doing is going to work; I'm just trusting the process).

So there you have it: a good workday includes coffee, croissants, and confidence, but if I had to pick just one...

It would be confidence.

So full honesty moment, are you confident in your literacy intervention? If not, that's our goal for this year!!!

Comment STRUCTURE and we'll send you the link to learn more about how to structure your literacy intervention to give you that confidence that changes everything.

Effective and efficient literacy ability requires a complex neural connection between multiple areas of the brain.

This is not an easy process, and students who struggle with reading or writing at grade level need specific instruction to help build this complex neural connection.

Research supports instruction that is:

→ Systematic
→ Explicit
→ Diagnostic-Prescriptive

This Thursday, we're hosting a free live training to talk more about exactly what this structure can look like.

One of the biggest frustrations that so many of us face is that we have the science and the research to support effective literacy intervention.

And yet, it still feels so difficult to get right.

We know all of the components. Phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension - we've known this for decades. But the problem is that we're treating each of these components as isolated skills to develop when the magic of intervention is showing our students how they all come together.

And the best literacy strategies aren't necessarily the ones that target one isolated area of literacy but rather the strategies that support the connection between each of these individual components.

We can build these connections with simple, repeatable routines inside of a structured literacy intervention lesson. And if you're curious about what that looks like, join us for our upcoming free LIVE training.
