Shout out to AEA members, Aurora community supporters, and our future union siblings for showing out and advocating for union recognition for APS ESPs (Education Support Professionals - "classified") staff!

Classified staff, licensed educators, and community supporters filled last night’s Aurora school board meeting united around one demand: let classified workers vote on their union.

Aurora classified staff first asked for union recognition back in August. Since then, district management has relied on textbook “union-busting” delay tactics, including a deeply flawed “study” based on just 22 responses that claimed workers did not want a union.

Last night, workers set the record straight. Classified union members spoke directly to the board and licensed educators passed and read a resolution in firm support of their coworkers’ union organizing. During the meeting the board president committed to placing the classified union recognition policy on the January agenda.

Educators at Elkhart were proud to walk in to school together today in solidarity with Colorado Springs Education Association. But they are unhappy that it has come to this due to the actions of the D11 Board and District management.

Educators in APS are standing in solidarity with our Colorado Springs Education Association union siblings who are on a 1-day strike today to stand in support of their profession, their students, and their communities!
