🍂 IMPORTANT PUMPKIN FEST ANNOUNCEMENT 🍂

It is with sincere disappointment that Celebrate Aurora announces the cancellation of Pumpkin Fest, scheduled for October 10, 2026.

This was not an easy decision for our committee. Due to changing construction conditions throughout the City of Aurora, we have determined that we cannot provide Pumpkin Fest in the safe and enjoyable manner our community has come to expect.

The safety of our community members, vendors, volunteers, businesses, and event staff must come first. Rather than move forward with an event that would be compromised by the current conditions, we believe cancellation is the most responsible decision.

We are especially disappointed because so many of our local Aurora businesses were looking forward to partnering with us and welcoming visitors during this fun fall tradition. While Pumpkin Fest will not take place this year, we strongly encourage everyone to continue visiting, shopping, dining, and supporting our Aurora businesses. ❤️

We also want to thank the vendors, organizations, volunteers, businesses, and community members who had already begun making plans to participate. Your willingness to be part of Pumpkin Fest means so much to our organization.

Celebrate Aurora remains committed to creating events that bring people together and strengthen our community. This is simply a pause for Pumpkin Fest—not the end of this cherished tradition. 🎃🍁

Are thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters and the family and friends of our fallen firefighter. 🙏🎗️🚒 Rest in peace and we will take it from here. 🕊️🤝❤️

The Eastern Area Complex Incident Management Team, under the command of the Superior National Forest and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources are aware that a medical emergency occurred on the July Lightning fires involving an individual assigned to the incident at approximately 10:40 am today, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in the vicinity of Ely, MN.

Fire personnel and emergency medical services responded. The patient was transported to a medical facility for treatment. After arriving at the hospital, the patient subsequently passed away. When additional information is available and confirmed, an update will be provided.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and fellow firefighting community.

Just a update from the DNR campfires are now allowed only in a established fire ring.

⚠️Campfire restrictions reduced⚠️

The DNR reduced burning restrictions effective July 29 at 12:01 am for Cook, Koochiching, Lake, and northern St. Louis counties, as well as the entirety of the George Washington State Forest and Scenic State Park, including the portions in Itasca County.

Recent rain has reduced, although not eliminated, wildfire risk in parts of northeastern Minnesota, therefore Class III restrictions remain in place for Cook, Lake, and northern St. Louis counties. That means:

➡️ Campfires are not allowed for dispersed, remote, backpacking, or backcountry camping, whether there is a designated fire ring or not. Likewise, on state lands, campfires are not allowed in state forests, including their campgrounds, state day-use or recreational areas, or backpacking sites in state parks.

➡️ Campfires are allowed only in an established fire ring associated with a state park, home, cabin, staffed permanent campground, or resort.

➡️ No burning of brush or yard waste is allowed. Burning permits will not be issued or activated.

➡️ No fireworks may be ignited on any public or private land outside city limits. Municipalities determine firework restrictions within their borders.

The DNR will continue to monitor conditions regularly and will adjust as necessary.

⚠️ ALERT ⚠️

To help ensure public safety and protect natural resources, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is activating Class IV burning restrictions beginning 12:01 p.m., Monday, July 20, for Cook, Koochiching, Lake and northern St. Louis counties, and also including all of George Washington State Forest and Scenic State Park. While the DNR’s restrictions do not control tribal lands, these restrictions align with current burning regulations for the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa and Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

Under Class IV burning restrictions:
🔥 Campfires or recreational fires are not allowed.
🔥 Welding, acetylene torches, or other devices with open flame are prohibited in proximity to combustible vegetation, except under special permits.
🔥 Only gas or propane camp stoves may be used in the backcountry or at campsites.
🔥 Charcoal fires are allowed, in a grill designed for that purpose, at occupied homes, cabins and resorts.

Forecasts call for erratic weather, shifting winds, and the potential for isolated damaging wind gusts and thunderstorms, which will significantly challenge firefighting efforts. With little precipitation and above‑average temperatures expected, fire danger is likely to remain high until the area receives substantial rainfall. Restrictions will remain in place until lifted by the DNR commissioner.

Public safety is our highest priority. If you spot a wildfire, move to a safe location and call 911 immediately. Ensure you obey all closures.

Just a reminder that following the parade, children's races and a balloon toss event will be held adjacent to Dino's Bottle Shop. Monetary prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place, and all participating children will receive a voucher for an ice cream cone redeemable at A&W..

One of Aurora's favorite Patriotic Days traditions returns this year!

Immediately following the July 3rd Parade, the Aurora Fire Department will once again host the annual Kids Races on Main Street in Aurora.

Just follow the fire trucks—that's where the action will be! 🚒

Children of all ages are invited to participate in a variety of races and activities, with cash prizes awarded by the Aurora Fire Department. It's a fun-filled tradition that generations of Aurora families have enjoyed and a great way for kids to keep the excitement going after the parade.
