Cayla Anderson, one of our pediatric primary care nurse practitioner students, co-taught a newborn care class to young pregnant parents with the program’s specialty director, Dr. Jennifer Rosen. Teaching the class is part of Cayla’s clinical training as she studies to become an NP. This class is taught monthly by providers at Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Young Mothers and Families Clinic. It’s wonderful to see our students like Cayla gain important clinical experience, making a real-life impact in our communities! ❤️

💫 June Preceptor of the Month Spotlight: Kathryn Ganser 💫
Kathryn has been precepting our students at the PICU at Children’s Hospital Colorado for the past two years. Her favorite part about precepting is our students! “Students always bring creative ideas and new things they are learning. They also ask questions to make sure I’m always learning, too!” One student had this to say: “I love her willingness and enthusiasm to teach at all times! She is incredibly smart and kind."

📣 Big news for our Sheridan Youth Clinic! Starting this Wednesday (6/17), the clinic has a new home at the main Sheridan Health Services building (less than a mile away).
The youth clinic’s commitment to young people in the community has spanned generations, and the new location will allow patients to get fully integrated care from our nurses and other providers. Learn how the clinic is making a difference for young people here:

Does inducing labor increase your chance of a C-section in midwife-attended births? New research from our midwives in the Journal of Midwifery and Women's Health says no. In fact, the study found pregnancies beyond 41 weeks were more closely linked to higher C-section rates. Other key takeaways include:
🩺 Hospital stays were longer for women who were induced
🏥 Care setting and organizational culture influence birth outcomes
