We hope everyone has a fun and restful summer break! The museum will be closed until September 1.

Our next exhibition, “Here, There: New Perspectives from the Illinois State Museum Collection,” will be on display from September 1 to December 11, 2026. This guest-curated exhibition features modern and contemporary artworks from the Illinois State Museum. Mariela Acuña, Sheridan Tucker Anderson, and Allison Lacher’s curatorial projects speak to themes of nostalgia, home, belonging, and sites of history in American art.

This exhibition is made possible through support from the Terra Foundation for American Art.

We are looking forward to seeing you in the fall!

This week, students from Dr. Libby Escobedo’s Art & Power and Art & Death courses each selected a print from “Mapping Territories” to present on for their final exam. Their presentations focused on the historical context of each work, representation within the pieces, connections to their course themes, and the background and artistic practice of each artist.

Be sure to stop by and explore “Mapping Territories” before it closes on Friday, May 15th!
