Everyone is invited to join us for Vacation Bible School (VBS) Monday, July 20-Wednesday, July 22, 9-11 am!
There will be Bible stories, singing, crafts, games, and snacks as we learn more about how God Finds Us!
Prek to 4th graders will work in groups and the 5th-8th graders will be helpers with the younger children.
Please RSVP by commenting to this post or call the school office 812-926-2656, so we can have enough supplies for everyone.

The 1st and 2nd graders of St. John Lutheran Church & School have been learning about our Community and how the Economy works. We learned about Goods and Services and Producers and Consumers. Yesterday thanks to a $250 grant from Henry Hampton - Thrivent Financial we went shopping at the Aurora-Marketplace and the kids bought food (goods) from the market (a producer). Then the kids provided a service to their community by taking the food to the Community Blessing Box by the Methodist Church on 3rd street.
They were well behaved and really enjoyed buying food to help other families. They also made cards to share God’s love.
We really appreciate Dan and Lani Valas, the owners of the Marketplace, working with us to make this experience happen!

The 3rd and 4th graders went to Eden Park for playtime and lunch. Then they went to the Ronald McDonald house to turn in their pop tabs and get a tour. After two years of collecting they turned in 35.6 pounds of pop tabs. They also learned more about how the pop tabs help the RMH. They also got to see the facility and the kids got a free cupcake. They had a wonderful day!

It’s the end of the school year and all the testing is finished! It is time for fun and field trips!

The 3rd and 4th graders had their Math Facts ice cream sundae party. The kids got to create their ice cream sundaes based on the math facts they learned and passed. The 3rd graders focused on multiplication facts and the 4th graders focused on division facts. Everyone did a wonderful job and worked very hard. We’re proud of each of them. They loved seeing their hard work come to life through the sundae. They enjoyed eating it as well.

It’s the end of the school year and all the testing is finished! It is time for fun and field trips!
7/8 went to Dearborn County Courthouse and met Judge Cleary and Prosecutor Lynn Deddens. Judge Cleary helped make the students comfortable by allowing them to sit in the courtroom with silly props!
It was a very informative experience. Even with all its imperfections, we have the best system of government on earth!

St. John Lutheran Church & School’s 1st and 2nd graders have been learning about our community, the economy, and goods and services, so today we went to Mik’s in Aurora to learn about being a barber and hairstylist. Olivia Flaum told us how she provides a service to others by cutting and styling their hair. Olivia is a St. John graduate and it was fun to see her successful in her profession! She was very patient with all the students’ questions. We love our town!
