Please join us in giving a big Spartan welcome to Mr. Swanson, our new middle school art teacher at Aurora West! 🎨✨
After spending the past 10 years as an Athletic Director and Dean, Mr. Swanson is thrilled to get back into the art room and work directly with students again. Outside of school, he loves spending quality time with his wife, their two kids, and their Goldendoodle, Zara. An avid outdoorsman and creative, you’ll usually find him mountain biking, snowboarding, skateboarding, hiking, working on an art project, or catching live music! 🚲🏂🎨🎶
Ms. Swanson got into education because he loves helping kids grow, build confidence, learn new skills, and figure out who they are. For him, the best moments in teaching are when students surprise themselves and take genuine pride in something they’ve created.
He believes the art room should be a fun place where students enjoy creating, try new things, and take pride in their work. Mr. Swanson is ready to get to work, build great relationships, and dive into the Spartan community. Welcome to the Spartan family, Mr. Swanson! ❤️

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our newest team member at AWCPA! 🇵🇭✨
Ms. A was born and raised in the Philippines, where she completed her education before launching her teaching career, she is celebrating her 20th year in education and her 5th year with Aurora Public Schools! Education truly runs in her DNA—she grew up surrounded by teachers, starting as a toddler doodling on her mom’s chalkboard and eventually becoming her unpaid TA in high school. Today, she and both of her younger siblings are all educators!
Although her undergraduate degree is in Mass Communication, teaching kept calling her back, leading her to complete her education coursework and earn a Master’s Degree in Special Education. 🎓
At home, she’s been married to her husband for 17 years, and they are proud parents to a high school senior at Rangeview! Rounding out the family are Yoshi and Koa, two energetic miniature schnauzers who keep everyone on their toes. 🐾 In her free time, she loves music, visual arts, interior decorating, cooking with her family, road-tripping to historic towns, and trying new cuisines. 🎨🍳🚗
Ms. A is thrilled to join the AWCPA community and looks forward to building positive, meaningful relationships with our students, families, and staff! Welcome to AWCPA, Ms. A! ❤️

When she isn’t teaching, you can find her reading, catching a live concert, baking up something delicious, or rewatching her favorite shows, The Office and Stranger Things. 🥐📺
Growing up in Aurora Public Schools, she was inspired by the incredible teachers she had and knew she wanted to become one herself. As a lifelong reader, Ms. Zody’s mission is to share the joy and transformative power of books with her students.
