The Colorado Livestock Association was pleased to take part in Under Secretary Richard Fordyce's trip to Colorado. On Wednesday, Under Secretary Fordyce visited Five Rivers Cattle Feeding's Kuner Feedyard and met with CLA President Britt Dinis at her family's dairy farm, Empire Dairy, near Wiggins. On Thursday, Travis Grant, CEO, traveled to the West Slope to join Under Secretary Fordyce for a roundtable that included representatives from the Colorado Livestock Association, the Colorado Cattlemen's Association, and the Colorado Farm Bureau.
Given the Under Secretary's leadership of the Farm Service Agency, the Risk Management Agency, and conservation programs, much of the conversation focused on the state of the farm economy, creating opportunities for the next generation of producers, and creating certainty and stability in an industry rattled by major market fluctuations, inflation, and natural disasters like drought and wildfires that have brought distress to much of Colorado.
