Every June 19, the United States commemorates the end of slavery for African Americans. Although freedom was proclaimed in 1863, many enslaved people did not learn they were free until June 19, 1865.

Juneteenth is a time to honor freedom, human dignity, and equality. It is also an opportunity for all communities to learn from history, stand together, and celebrate the diversity that strengthens our nation.

When one community’s rights and freedoms advance, society as a whole grows stronger.

Cada 19 de junio, Estados Unidos conmemora el fin de la esclavitud de las personas afroamericanas. Aunque la libertad fue proclamada en 1863, muchas personas no recibieron esa noticia sino hasta el 19 de junio de 1865.

Juneteenth es un día para recordar la importancia de la libertad, la dignidad humana y la igualdad. También es una oportunidad para que, como comunidad, mostremos solidaridad, aprendamos de la historia y celebremos la diversidad que fortalece a nuestro país.

Cuando una comunidad avanza en sus derechos y libertades, toda la sociedad se fortalece.
