Earlier this month, alumni from the Classes of 1957–1995 enjoyed a luncheon together at the Advent Christian General Conference Triennial Convention in North Carolina. We enjoyed reconnecting, reminiscing about cherished memories, sharing campus updates, and celebrating the lasting bonds of the AU community.

Andrea Vallejo ’20 is the daughter of Mexican immigrants, a background that inspired her to major in political science and public policy at AU and co-found the HOPE student organization, which continues to serve students to this day.

After realizing traditional law enforcement wasn't the right fit, Amanda Parlow '25 found purpose helping individuals rebuild their lives through treatment court programs. Read how AU's online social work and criminal justice programs helped prepare her for a career driven by empathy, accountability, and advocacy:

Inspired by her father’s career in law enforcement, Amanda Parlow ’25 initially pursued patrol work. Despite gaining valuable soft skills, Parlow struggled to find fulfillment in a series of customer-facing and security roles, and soon realized her calling lay elsewhere in the justice system.
