Facial Technique!
Watch Maria Calles sing this beautiful aria. Particularly watch her jaw and mouth. Rigid or Liquid and flexible? Does it move with the changes in her range? At times she smiles. Is that while she sings or when she breathes? What are the corners of her mouth doing in the relaxed part of her range (mid-range around her starting note)? What does her mouth do when she goes for high notes... does it spread wide like a smile, is she pursing the corners of her mouth then or relaxing them, does she open her mouth wide or long? On high notes are her neck or jaw straining, are her shoulders pulled up or relaxed and down?
We can learn so much from watching great singers. You have the answers to these questions if you just observe her as she sings. But if you have questions feel free to ask them here or send them to the email listed on my website.
Have a great day!
