Congratulations to the Highland Students who placed at the Colorado State Fair!

Harper Tolle:
Harper delivered an incredible performance at the Colorado State Fair Market Lamb Show. She took 2nd place in Classes 9 and 16, and claimed 1st place in Class 12. That winning Class 12 lamb went on to be named Champion Medium Heavyweight and ultimately took home top honors as the Grand Champion Market Lamb! To top it all off, Harper was also named Grand Champion in the Market Lamb Showmanship division.

Kahlen Tolle:
Kahlen had an outstanding showing in the Market Lamb Show! She secured 1st place in Classes 4 and 13, along with 2nd and 4th place finishes in Class 10. Her success continued in the drive, where she earned Reserve Champion Middleweight with her Class 10 runner-up lamb, and Reserve Champion Medium Heavyweight with her Class 13 winner—which ultimately placed as the 4th Overall Market Lamb of the entire Colorado State Fair!

Hannah Davis:
Hannah represented fantastically at the Colorado State Fair Swine Show. She claimed the Reserve Champion Swine Showman title and earned a strong 2nd place in her pig class, finishing just behind the pig that went on to win Reserve Champion overall.

Blaze Davis:
Blaze also put on a stellar showing in the Swine Show, placing 1st in one class and taking 2nd place in another! His 2nd place pig placed right behind the overall Grand Champion pig.

Peyton Swyers:
Peyton showed true versatility and expertise across species at the Colorado State Fair! Peyton placed 1st in Horse, 2nd in Cattle, and 3rd in Swine - a fantastic performance that earned a 4th Place Overall Master Livestock Showman finish!

Welcome to the Weld RE-9 School District!

As I begin my second year as Superintendent, I am incredibly proud to be part of the Weld RE-9 community. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to get to know our students, staff, families, and community in a much deeper way, and I continue to be impressed by the pride people have in our schools and, most importantly, by how much they care about our kids. In Weld RE-9, we work to approach every decision with a Students First perspective. This year, we are also placing an intentional focus on belonging—making sure every student, in every one of our schools, knows they are valued, supported, and an important part of the Highland community.

This is also an exciting time of growth and investment in the future of our district. Construction of our new K–8 school, made possible by the support of our community through the 2024 bond, continues on time and on budget. The building is scheduled for completion in April 2027 and will welcome students for the 2027–28 school year. At Highland High School, construction is also underway on a new 60' x 60' greenhouse that will expand opportunities for students through horticulture, floriculture, concurrent enrollment, and Career and Technical Education courses within our Agriculture Education program. These projects are about much more than new facilities—they represent our community's investment in creating outstanding opportunities for Highland students for generations to come.

There is a lot to be excited about in Weld RE-9, but what makes this district special is not our buildings—it is our people. I love being part of this community and spending time in our classrooms, at student activities and athletic events, and alongside our staff and families. Whether you are a current parent, considering Weld RE-9 for your family, thinking about joining our staff, or simply learning more about our district, I invite you to take a closer look at Highland. We are proud of where we are, excited about where we are going, and committed to ensuring that every student has a place where they belong and an opportunity to succeed.

The ​Weld RE-9 School District will provide no cost Breakfast and Lunch for all students during the 2026-2027 school year!

Research shows students perform better in school when they are not hungry. By providing Breakfast and Lunch to all children at no cost, we better support their learning.

Our school meals follow the U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals. When families choose no-cost school meals, our school gets more funding and our school community can connect over mealtimes. It also saves time and money, which your family can use on what’s most important.

Although all students will receive no cost meals, it’s important for Weld RE-9 Schools to receive state and federal funding we qualify for. These funds go directly to schools to help cover the cost of meals and support after-school activities and other nutritional programs for students. Plus, qualifying households may be eligible to receive Summer EBT benefits, receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utilities support and more. The Weld RE-9 School District extends our deepest condolences, caring thoughts, and prayers to the families, friends, and staff at Eaton School District following the devastating accident over the weekend. Our entire community is grieving alongside you.

While our districts have long been spirited competitors, moments like this remind us that we are neighbors first. In Northern Colorado, our schools and communities are deeply connected, and a heartbreak of this magnitude is felt by all of us.

To the students, educators, and families in Eaton RE-2: please know that Weld RE-9 stands united with you in grief, offering our steadfast support and keeping your entire community in our thoughts.
