We know it feels like summer break just started, but with our new balanced, year-round schedule, the first day of school is just a little over two weeks away!

Lodestar Academy still has a few spots available for the 2026–2027 school year, and we would love to meet families who are looking for something a little different for their teen.

Lodestar is designed for middle and high school students who need a smaller, more personal learning environment — a place where they can be known, supported, challenged, and given room to truly shine. We keep class sizes small, focus on hands-on learning, build real-life skills, and place a strong emphasis on social-emotional growth, confidence, and community.

If your teen has felt lost in a traditional school setting, overwhelmed by large classrooms, or simply needs a place where they can be seen as a whole person, Lodestar may be the right fit.

We are currently accepting a limited number of new students ages 12 and up for the upcoming school year.

Message us today to learn more or schedule a visit. Come see why no star drifts alone at Lodestar.

Did you know that humans are not the only staff members at Lodestar Academy?

It’s true! Meet Dinosaur Nuggie Hussell, better known around here as Dino.

His official job title is Security and HVAC Specialist, but where he really shines is emotional support. He is basically a weighted blanket that purrs.

Dino is currently summering with his mother, Grandmeow, and Pawpaw in Augusta, but he would like everyone to know that he is bored, dramatic, and very ready to get back to school to see his other kids.

He also asked me to remind you that we are still giving away a brand-new PlayStation 5 Pro! It has been sitting in the guest room of his summer home for months, just waiting for someone to play it. We also have several other fun prizes up for grabs.

You can check out all the details here:

And if you want to hear more about Dino’s heroic street cat origin story, or how he became one of Lodestar’s favorite employees, let us know. He says he is available for interviews, treats, and light worship.
