WOW! Our readers are on a roll! We are only ONE WEEK into our Read-A-Thon, and we are already seeing some amazing effort from our students (about 50% logging minutes) and incredible support from our families, friends, and community! We are so proud of the excitement our students are showing for reading and the money being raised to support our school.

But guess what?! WE’RE ONLY HALFWAY THERE!

We have one more week to keep those pages turning and our fundraising efforts going strong! Keep working toward those reading minute goals, sharing your reader’s page with friends and family, and encouraging your favorite reader to keep going!

Every minute read and every dollar raised makes a difference for our school! Let’s make this final week AMAZING and finish our Read-A-Thon strong!

This year we have a record number of high school mentors, and yesterday they got to meet their mentees. It was a very positive meeting, and now the mentors will meet with their matches once per week.

This program benefits our elementary students greatly as they really look up to the older students, and they really look forward to their time together. High school students typically report that they enjoy it as well and they are happy to help with the development of our younger students.

📚 A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR GENEROUS COMMUNITY DONORS! 📚

Our Elementary Read-A-Thon would not be possible without the incredible support of our local community! We are so grateful to the businesses and community members who chose to invest in our students and help us make reading even more exciting. A very special thank you to The Wood Shed, Creative Touch, Wild Apple Disc Golf (Maggie Kufner), Oakwood Bank, Bill Perotte, and a special anonymous donor for their generous contributions. Your support helps us encourage a love of reading, celebrate our students, and provide meaningful experiences for our school. We are truly thankful for your generosity and for being such wonderful supporters of our students! Thank you for helping us make a difference!

A big thank-you to the Augusta Area Foundation for sponsoring sketchbooks for our K–5 art students! 🎨📚

These sketchbooks will give our young artists a special place to practice, experiment, sketch, and explore their creative ideas during Art Choice Time throughout the school year. We are so grateful for the Foundation’s support of art education and for helping provide our students with this wonderful resource!

Thank you, Augusta Area Foundation, for investing in our young artists! ❤️

In art, first-grade students learned that lines can be used to create shapes, patterns, and interesting artwork. They explored different kinds of lines, including curly, bumpy, wavy, and spiral lines, and practiced drawing them with oil pastels. Next, students used watercolor paints to add bright colors over their lines. They traced and cut out a monster template and glued it onto a colorful background. Then, they used their creativity to give their monster ears, eyes, and a mouth. To finish their artwork, students drew different kinds of lines around their monsters, filling the background with movement and pattern. Each Line Monster is unique and shows the students' creativity and understanding of line!
