Great story by Mainebiz about expanded short-term healthcare training under a new partnership led by MCCS' Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine's Workforce.

Maine needs more skilled healthcare workers in a wide range of jobs, and we're doing everything we can - with 50+ healthcare partners - to meet that need!

“Long-term solutions are only possible if we work together.”

One- to two-year programs have been available for decades. The system is expanding short-term programs, taking weeks or months to complete, to move skilled workers into entry-level roles faster.

Another great story on the mechanized logging/trucking program run by PLC of the Northeast - Professional Loggers and KVCC Kennebec Valley Community College!
There's a reason this program is so popular and grads do so well!

Mechanized Logging Operations & Forest Trucking - MLOFT

The program is divided into two portions that alternate weekly. Students work to obtain their commercial driver’s license in the classroom, before switching over to operate mechanized logging equipment in the field.

"There are so many possibilities that exist in the 'what-if'."

That's how Southern Maine Community College Student of the Year Kamy Dube described moving forward while staying curious and embracing new opportunities.

After earning degrees in hospitality management and business administration at SMCC, Kamy is continuing her education while being mindful of the lessons she's learned along the way.
