Our 7th graders put the 5 Themes of Geography into action with a gallery walk in Mr. Griswold's Class!

Students moved around the hallway examining examples of Location, Place, Movement, Human-Environment Interaction, and Region while recording what they noticed and learned.

To wrap up the activity, each student completed an exit ticket on a Post-it note, sharing one takeaway from the gallery walk. Their responses now cover our classroom door—a colorful snapshot of what they learned about geography!

Our new Creative Writing class is off and running!

Dr. Reed worked with students to create their own personalized writing journals, and we can’t wait to see all of the amazing pieces they add throughout the semester!

We’re excited to watch their creativity, voices, and love of writing grow!

STOCK THE PTO CLOSET!

Did you know our students can earn Bluejay Bucks throughout the school year?

Bluejay Bucks are a way for us to recognize students for making positive choices, showing our Bluejay traits, and being Kind, Hardworking, Helpful, and Positive Leaders. Teachers and staff can reward students with Bluejay Bucks when they see them going above and beyond!

On Bluejay Buck Turn-In Days, students get the opportunity to turn in their Bucks for a small reward from our PTO Closet.

We would love your help keeping the closet stocked! We are looking for:
• Individual Slim Jims
• Snack Bag Cheez-Its
• Snack Bag Chex Mix
• Full-size candy bar packs

Donations can be brought to the AMS OFFICE.

We are officially an AVID Site of Distinction!

This is a BIG deal for Augusta Middle School, and one we are incredibly proud of!

Becoming an AVID Site of Distinction means that AVID is more than just an elective or a program at AMS: it is becoming part of how we support all students. It means we are intentionally creating a school culture where students are taught to be organized, advocate for themselves, think critically, collaborate, and take ownership of their learning.

And this recognition didn't happen overnight. It represents a tremendous amount of work by our staff: professional learning, collaboration, classroom implementation, data review, reflection, and countless conversations about how we can better prepare our students for success in middle school, high school, and beyond.

Most importantly, it reflects the hard work happening every day with our students.

We are incredibly proud of our teachers and staff for embracing the AVID mindset and continuing to push ourselves to do what is best for kids. This is a reflection of the commitment, teamwork, and heart that our staff brings to AMS every day.

Augusta Department Of Public Safety has the perfect event!

We are doing something a little different this year. We are hosting National Night Out with a community pool party! We are still working out some details and will post more soon.
