Augusta Prep first grade and kindergarten students packed individual bags of dog food earlier today for the homeless who have pets. Students also listened to the New York Times bestseller, “Can I Be Your Dog?” to help them better understand that not all pets live in warm and cozy homes with plenty of food.

We were delighted to have Class of 1976 Augusta Prep alums back on campus Saturday as part of their reunion. They toured the W. Rodger Giles Institute for Inquiry and learned more about Augusta Prep and our campus over the past 50 years.

We hope to see many of our alumni back on campus when we hold our Homecoming football game on Friday, October 16, at Richards Stadium.

On Saturday, Augusta Prep junior Caleb Hogan participated in USC Aiken’s Science Education Enrichment Day (SEED) event. A member of the Augusta Prep NSTEM Honor Society, Caleb helped out at the American Chemical Society (ACS) booth and ran his own table, demonstrating hydration using sodium polyacrylate and helping kids draw connections to real world applications. The ACS members remarked that it was the first time they had worked with high school students and they were very impressed! Caleb, and other members of the Augusta Prep NSTEM chapter, have been invited to help out with the ACS Earth Day booth in the future.

Today was a big day for Augusta Prep running into alums at the University of Georgia. On the Augusta Prep junior class college tour to Athens current students learned more about UGA from 2026 alums Isabella Deaner, Sarah Khan, Ivy Ward and Crawford McDougal. Also, Mrs. Chokshi ran into Raymond Friedman, one of several Friedman Prep alums, while Mr. Mims ran into Prep alums Maya Patel and JT D**g.

Last year, Augusta Prep had a 90 percent early acceptance rate into UGA, well exceeding the school’s overall 33 percent acceptance rate.

The eighth-grade class finished off this week’s educational trip to Washington, D.C., with a stop at the home of the first U.S. president, George Washington. Students learned more this morning about Mount Vernon, watched an informative video of General Washington leading the way in the Revolutionary War and soaked in gorgeous views of the Potomac River.
