Augusta Prep senior Hannah Oellerich will miss the first day of school next week - for a good reason. Hannah is representing Georgia in this weekend’s 2026l Patriot Games competition, which begins Sunday and runs through Tuesday at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio. The Patriot Games will be streamed live on the ESPN app, with a one-hour ESPN on ABC special at 9 p.m., Thursday.
“I’m really excited,” said Hannah, a fall varsity cheerleader for the Cavaliers. “I’m nervous to meet everybody, but I’m excited to meet everyone from different states.”
There are a total of 120 competitors, with one boy and one girl representing each state, U.S. military base and tribal nations. This competition is for teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17. A total of $250,000 in scholarship prize money will be awarded to one male champion and one female champion, according to freedom250.org.
The athletes will be tested on a variety of skills from the Presidential Fitness Test, going through a military-inspired boot camp circuit. Finalists will compete in an obstacle course designed to test strategy and skill, per espn.com. The teenagers will compete in a series of challenges designed to test strength, endurance, agility, teamwork and perseverance.
Hannah will begin the competition with the Presidential Qualifier event at 1 p.m., Sunday. The girls dodgeball competition will take place at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by kickball at 6:30.
On Monday, the Girls Varsity Circuit begins the day at 11 a.m. The Girls Operation Endurance will follow at 2:45 p.m.
On Tuesday, Tug of War will begin the final day at 10:30 a.m., and will be followed by Victory Hoops at 11:30. The semifinal, final and closing will take place at 7 p.m.
Help us root on Hannah and wish her the best of luck in the Patriot Games. Go Hannah!

On Wednesday, Augusta Prep Head of School Eric Hedinger toured the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office headquarters and learned more about our partnership with the county. Mr. Hedinger wanted to give a special thanks to Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Joe Baker and Georgia Business Net President Clay Colvin for the tour and for learning more about the usage of cameras for safety and security throughout the county and around campus.
As part of our ongoing safety and security measures, Augusta Prep employs a rotation of Columbia County Deputies on campus throughout the summer, every school day and for athletic contests and special events.
