Augusta High School Marching Band Earns Superior Rating at Central States Marching Festival

The Augusta High School Marching Band earned a Superior Rating (Division I) Saturday evening at the Central States Marching Festival at Kansas State University in Manhattan.

Augusta was among 38 bands from throughout the Midwest participating in the festival. Each band had the opportunity to perform inside Bill Snyder Family Stadium, giving students the experience of performing on the home field of the Kansas State Wildcats.

This year’s Augusta production, “We’re All Mad Here,” is based on the classic story Alice in Wonderland. The show explores the colorful and unpredictable world of Wonderland through music, visual effects and the performers’ portrayal of the story’s characters and themes.

The band is under the direction of James Hollingsworth and Todd Hollis, with Samantha Madorin and Alex Christian directing the color guard and Jacob Reavis serving as drumline instructor. Leading the band on the field as drum majors are Carlyn Hollingsworth and Reid Shelite.

The Superior Rating continues a strong tradition of achievement for the Augusta High School Marching Band.

The band will return to competition on October 17, when it participates in the Kansas Bandmasters Association Marching Championships at Wichita Heights High School.

Sept. 26: 5 bus sponsors for Central State Marching Festival (I already have Sarah Sykes)

Oct. 2: 2 parent helpers for water distribution, 2 parents for uniform distribution, and 2 parents for uniform collection.

Oct. 16: 2 parent helpers for water distribution, 2 parents for uniform distribution, and 2 parents for uniform collection.

Oct. 17: 6 bus sponsors for KBA Marching Festival Morning
6 bus sponsors for KBA Marching Festival Afternoon

Oct. 21: 6 bus sponsors for Southern Plains Marching Festival
