Georgia 4-H makes positive impact on participants, serving 200K youth last year | CAES Field Report Across Georgia, students who participate in 4-H programs feel more prepared, more accountable and more supported because of the opportunities provided by hands-on programming in agriculture, science, civic engagement, leadership, health and wellness, according to the 2025 National 4-H Index Study.

4-H was well represented at the Augusta Agriculture Month ceremony at the Augusta Municipal Building. Our very own Michaela Hall shared a poem. 4-H volunteer Garden Club leader, Joy Brown, was the MC of the program. Our very own Carolyn Henry (sewing club volunteer) prepared the food. Everything was delicious and amazing.

Small group. Big impact.

On Saturday, the Augusta-Richmond County 4-H Garden Club celebrated the start of Augusta’s Agriculture Month “Rooted in resilience.”

Although only two girls attended the , they proved that a few dedicated hands can accomplish a lot. Together, they harvested tomatoes and red cayenne peppers, pruned away brown and yellow tomato leaves and stems to help keep the plants healthy, and packed 22 quart bags with approximately 28 pounds of fresh, locally grown produce to share with the BTPC Food Pantry.

A special thank you to Ms. Pam, who also put in the work by mowing the grass and helping keep the garden looking its best.

Growing food is important, but growing the next generation of Augusta’s agricultural leaders is even more rewarding. 🌱💚

Our Timothy Carter had an amazing week at State Congress. This past year he has accomplished what most 4-H'ers only dream of. He became Vice President of the State Board of Directors for Georgia 4-H, graduated high school in the top 10 of his class, he became a Georgia 4-H Camp Counselor at Rock Eagle and done so well at his job he was chosen as the 1st Year Counselor of the Year, he Mastered through Key Award and Dean's Award and he won 1st place in the Photography and Videography Category at District Project Achievement which moved him on to compete at State Congress and placed 2nd out of the whole State of Georgia for Photography and Videography!! There isn't a person in Georgia 4-H that doesn't know who Timothy Carter is. I had so many adults come up to me this week and tell me how great of a kid he is, how he's so polite and courteous to everyone he meets. We couldn't be any more proud of you if we tried Timothy! Today was his official last day as a 4-H'er, but I promise you it will not be the last time you hear of Timothy Carter in Georgia 4-H. Now he moves on to college and next summer I can guarantee you he will be at Rock Eagle 4-H Center as a Camp Counselor, he will become an official Georgia 4-H Adult Volunteer and he will go to all of these events with our younger 4-H'ers and he will make sure they have just as great of an experience in 4-H as he did. Timothy we love you, thank you for all the memories and all the ones that are still to come 🍀💚🥹💚🍀

Mission Make-It is an exciting opportunity for 6th-8th grade students to engage in the engineering design process, teamwork, critical thinking, and positive youth development! This event will include hands-on engineering workshops, guest speakers, and interactive exhibits. Our 2026 theme focuses on food — challenging middle schoolers to apply engineering design thinking to real-world food-related problems. We are going to be Cooking Up Solutions because this is Nacho Average Engineering Challenge!
