Augusta High School Athletics and the Booster Club would like to invite all Augusta High School athletes to the 1st Annual “Orioles Giving Back to Augusta” event.

When: Friday, August 14th
Where: Meet at Hillier Stadium at 4:00 pm
What: Coaches & Athletes will do several community projects from 4:00-6:00 pm.

In addition, Booster club will feed our athletes at Hillier Stadium from 6:00-6:30 pm when finished.

Parents are invited to come to Hillier Stadium to learn more about getting involved with the Augusta Booster Club.

NEW KANSAS LAW: BELL TO BELL, NO CELL

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, Kansas House Bill 2299 prohibits students from accessing personal electronic communication devices during the school day.

This is a new state law, not an Augusta High School rule. Every Kansas public school and accredited private school is required to follow it.

From the beginning of the school day through dismissal, personal devices must be turned off and securely stored. This includes cell phones, smartwatches, wireless earbuds and headphones, personal tablets, and other devices capable of voice, text, or video communication.

The law applies during class, passing periods, lunch, ACE, and all other time on school grounds during the school day.

Students may:

• Leave the device at home
• Leave it secured in a vehicle
• Bring it to school turned off and store it according to school procedures

Keeping a phone in a pocket does not meet the requirement.

Violations will result in consequences, which may include the device being collected by administration, parent notification, parent retrieval of the device, an office referral, and progressive discipline for repeated violations or refusal to follow staff directions.

Students who need to contact home will have access to a school phone or another approved communication method. Families who need to reach a student should contact the school office.

Please begin talking with your student now and decide which option will work best. We appreciate your help as we make this statewide transition and keep the focus on learning.
