Today, our entire school community gathered for Opening Convocation to worship together and begin a new school year centered on our 2026–27 theme: Run Boldly, Finish Strong, inspired by Hebrews 12:1–2.

Dr. Brower shared a powerful message about the weight of sin and how easily it can slow us down. Through a memorable demonstration, several of our cross country runners attempted to run while carrying heavy weights—until Lucas Johnson ’26 stepped in, took the weights from them, and allowed them to run freely.

It was a powerful picture of the truth found in Hebrews 12: we are called to lay aside every weight and run with endurance by fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

A meaningful way to begin the year together—and a reminder of where our eyes must remain as we Run Boldly and Finish Strong.

Yesterday was an incredible first day of school! It was so good to see our campus filled with smiling faces again. We’re grateful for such a strong start and excited for all God has in store this year. Here’s to a great year ahead! 💙

Congratulations to Dr. Will Williams, Sarah Coleman, and Amy White, our 2026 Green-Orr Award recipients! Each year, one outstanding teacher from the Lower, Middle, and Upper School is honored for exceptional dedication and excellence in their field. This award not only celebrates the remarkable achievements of our faculty but also pays tribute to the legacy of Juanita and Charles Green, Sr., and Roberta and Harry Orr, Jr., parents of Peggy and Charlie Green. We are truly grateful for the extraordinary educators who make Westminster such a special place.
