Today we honor Juneteenth, commemorating the day news of emancipation finally reached the last enslaved people in the United States in 1865.
This year, we invite you to take part in local celebrations and learning opportunities happening right here in Maine.
We’ve gathered a list of local Juneteenth events on the UMA Heritage Month Calendar to help you connect with your community and honor this historic day: https://ow.ly/aXsR50Z9E12
In observation of this national holiday, the University is closed today.

Calling all Moose Nation alumni!
UMA’s first-ever alumni networking event is bringing graduates back to campus for an evening of connection, conversation, and community.
Whether you graduated last year or decades ago, studied on campus, online, or at one of our centers, this is your chance to reconnect with UMA, meet fellow alumni, and build new personal and professional connections.
Hosted by Amy Marston, UMA’s 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient and Board of Visitors member, and Dianne Chicoine, Chair of the Alumni Association, this special gathering marks the beginning of a new chapter for the UMA alumni community.
Enjoy an informal evening with fellow graduates, complete with snacks and beverages, while sharing stories, making connections, and helping strengthen the network that makes UMA so special.
