It’s almost time for Open Houses! Our schools across the district will be opening their doors to welcome students and families before the first day of school. Open Houses are a great chance to:
✔️ Meet your teachers and staff
✔️ Explore classrooms and hallways
✔️ Learn about programs and resources
✔️ Connect with other families

Each school has its own Open House schedule. Please check with your student’s school for specific details. We look forward to seeing you there as we get ready for an exciting year ahead!

"At Cony, the Seal of Biliteracy represents more than language proficiency; it reflects a school culture that values global citizenship, cultural understanding, and meaningful opportunities for students to connect with the wider world. This is especially notable, as Cony’s World Languages department is led by two educators who have recently been recognized as being among the state’s best. Spanish teacher and department head Gretchen Livingston was named the 2026 Kennebec County Teacher of the Year, and German teacher Deborah Backman earned the same honor in 2025."

The Augusta School Department has been awarded a Maine DOE planning grant to explore the feasibility of adjusting school start times across the district. As part of this process, a School Start Time Committee is researching several potential scheduling scenarios and their impact on students, families, staff, and the community.

No decisions have been made, and there will be no changes for the upcoming school year.

We invite students, families, staff, and community members to complete our survey and share their perspectives. Your feedback will help inform the committee's research and guide future recommendations. Thank you for taking a few minutes to participate!
