DFA 2020 GRADS

Hello everyone! My name is De’Anya Bell. Throughout high school, my fine arts pathway was Dance, specifically the Modern dance technique. I trained under Mrs. Sharon Skepple Mayfield in and outside of school for 12 years! Some of my favorite senior memories are moving into the Senior Section at the end of Junior year, hosting our Senior Lake Day, and reading A Raisin in the Sun in Mrs. Fortson’s class. Even though I wasn’t able to complete the traditional senior year, I am thankful for the ability to adapt and succeed through any circumstance. Attending classes within the school walls could not have made our class any closer than we are now. It has been an honor serving my class as President. They are my family and I will ALWAYS do everything I can for them. It’s truly a blessing to be part of DFA’s 2020 graduating class. I’m so grateful for the administration and staff who have and continue to go above and beyond for their students. I will be attending THE Howard University in Washington, D.C. as a Business Management Major and Dance Minor. I cannot wait to make Augusta proud!

My name is Cary Roberts. Throughout high school I took the musical pathway: orchestra, choir, and piano. My favorite memory from DFA is having a senior year full of wonderful and unforgettable memories with friends and teachers despite the year being cut short due to the Coronavirus. It is truly a blessing to be at DFA with the wonderful class of 2020 and the teachers who made it this year wonderful and I just want to thank God for making this happen. I plan to attend Kennesaw State University and major in nursing and continue helping others in need.

My name is Hannah Wright and throughout high I was involved in model UN, the art department, and yearbook staff during senior year. There are so many good memories from senior year but my favorite would probably be all the first period AP Psych talks. Although this year has been cut short, I am beyond grateful to be a part of such a wonderful class and school. After graduation, I plan to go to Kennesaw State University majoring in Political Science on the Pre-Law track. I hope to become a corporate lawyer. I am so thankful for everything Davidson has given me!

My name is Diona Nesbitt. Throughout high school, my main fine art focus was dance, specifically tap/jazz, but I later got into yearbook and ethnic drums. My favorite senior memory is tied between our senior lake day and our senior breakfast. Both were events where we were (mostly) all together just having fun. Although my senior year was cut short, the time we did have together is time I wouldn’t trade for anything. After graduation I plan to major in psychology. I’m currently still sorting through acceptances but I’ll be making a final college decision very soon.

My name is Eboni Watts. Throughout high school I focused on my fine art, dance, was in Science club, NHSDA, and FLAIR. My favorite senior memory was Senior Lake Fay and Senior Breakfast because our class really got to bond with each other and have so much fun. Although my senior year was cut short, I’m spending time lots of time with my family and working on my craft. After graduation I plan to go to Kennesaw State University for Fall 2020 with a major in Biology in a minor in Dance.

Hi! My name is Christian Williamson. Throughout highschool, I was in chorus and tip-toed my way through the dance department, however music was always my first love. I got to be apart of the Davidson Chorale and Harmonix, which was truly a life changing experience. My favorite memories would have to be the GMEA performance with chorale, going on “tour” with Harmonix to sing for the state superintendents, or breaking out in song at a Chick-Fil-A in Athens. Although my senior year was cut short, I am glad I was able to grow as a person, make amazing friends, and experience the joy of performing with like-minded individuals at the one and only, Davidson Fine Arts. After graduation I plan to save money and attend Augusta University (go jags🥳) and major in Biology with a pre-vet or pre-med track.

My name is Alexis Lanier. Throughout high school, I was a music student (mainly piano) and a member of poetry club (9-12) as well as math club and Tri-M HS during my last two years. My favorite senior memory is cackling in basically every single class. Although my senior year was cut short, I’ve been able to focus more on myself and my career and hobbies. After graduation I plan to be a psychologist (focusing on mental health), a writer, an entrepreneur, and most importantly, a wife and mother.

My name is Anna Cashin. Throughout high school, I did up to acting 4 and ceramics. My favorite senior memory is either the APES camping trip or the acting 3/4 sleep over/ parties at Jenny’s. Although my senior year was cut way too short I really appreciate the new relationships with underclassmen i formed this year and wish them all the best and give out virtual forehead kisses to them all. I am coping with this by dying my hair fun colors and crying constantly but we will all be fine, i hope. After graduation I plan to attend Georgia State and major in Video Game Design.

Hi! My name is Jordan Troup. I’ve been at Davidson since 6th grade and have remained an active member in the Drama Department. Besides doing theatre I have also spent high-school as a student council representative and a member of Beta club. My favorite senior memory is attending my final Thescon, giving me the opportunity to be with my theatre family and perform. Although my year was cut short, I still had a wonderful senior year and made so many amazing memories in the time I was given. After graduation I plan to attend the University of Georgia and major in engineering.

Hey y’all, my name is Alexa Brown! Throughout my high school experience at Davidson, I primarily focused on Tap/Jazz while taking other dance classes throughout the 7 years of my life at DFA. I also dabbled in chorus and theatre marketing. I participated in High School Student Council, Beta Club, Science Club and others that granted me a great experience. There are a myriad of memories made from my time at DFA that I could pick to be my favorite, but if I had to choose, it would be senior lake day since it enhanced our bond as a class and symbolized the beginning to an end of a chapter in our lives. Although our senior year was cut short, I truly believe that there is something great in store for the c/o 2020. God gives his strongest soldiers the toughest battles! With love and positivity, we can surely get through this as one! After graduation, I plan to attend Kennesaw State University and major in Biology and minor in Business and to hopefully be a change I want to see in our world. I will forever be thankful to Davidson for providing me with a second family and home ❤️

My name is Sarah Smith. Throughout high school I pursued rigorous academics with a love for learning, and experienced creating visual art with some of the best friends I could ever ask for. My favorite senior memory was the first day of senior year, because I remember feeling beyond nervous walking into it. To protect my own physical and mental health, I was forced to leave school two years ago, and hadn’t been able to communicate with anyone from Davidson or attend school in a normal setting for sophomore and junior year. However, when I came back, it was as if I never left, and I knew I made the right choice coming home. Although my senior year was cut short, the six months I did have were a blessing an an ode to my personal hard work and resilience of our class. I was able to keep a positive attitude by staying connected with those I love and pursuing lost interests, such as learning a language or reading poetry. After graduation I plan to attend New York University in NYC, where I will be majoring in international studies with a focus on public health and policy. Hopefully my degree will enable me to enter a field where I can ensure this kind of things never happens to another set of talented seniors.
