A regional theological education program of the United Church of Christ, Maine Conference

Reading of the poem, “Reparation” by REACH Co-Director Penthea Burns 06/22/2026

Wabanaki REACH was one of two organizations that were part of MESOM's spring semester course Organizing for Relationships and Repair.

Their work comes out of a Truth and Reconciliation process that recently observed its 11th year of impact through the report of the Maine Wabanaki-State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Ongoing educational opportunities remain available through Wabanaki REACH for organizations, congregations, and municipalities to learn from indigenous history and leadership in the present.

Wabanaki Alliance was one of two organizations to be part of our MESOM spring semester class in Organizing for Relationships and Repair. Check out this educational forum upcoming on July 18th. "From Treaties to Today: Wabanaki Tribal Sovereignty in Maine." (Recording to be shared real-time on Facebook.)

In one month we will join our friends at Portland Public Library for a panel discussion: “From Treaties to Today: Wabanaki Tribal Sovereignty in Maine” moderated by Dr. Darren Ranco, Chair of Native American Programs at the University of Maine, and citizen of the Penobscot Nation.

We’re honored to hear from Hon. Donna Loring (Penobscot Nation), Ambassador Osihkiyol Crofton-Macdonald (Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians), Maulian Bryant (Penobscot Nation), and Sage Phillips (Penobscot Nation).

We hope to see you on July 18th for a meaningful discussion about the past, present, and future of sovereignty for the Wabanaki Nations. This event will be live-streamed on the Wabanaki Alliance page.

LOVE is the Point. - LOVING, Accepting, Welcoming MultiFaith Gathering in Portland, ME on 5/15/26 06/09/2026

What is the point of religion right now?

Not an abstract question. Weeks ago various answers were on display in Portland. Turning-Point-USA represented one view, and progressive leaders gathered nearby to represent another. Local UCC faith leaders among other ministers, artists, activists, and musicians found ways to practice and proclaim: "Love Is The Point."
