2022- you were new, you were challenging…but boy were you rewarding. Several grey hairs and thousands of UWorld questions later, cheers to being one step closer to MDs! We couldn’t do it without each other!

In memory of our first patients. Who’s generosity taught us more than any textbook, and who’s sacrifice will impact hundreds of thousands of future patients. Words will never be able to thank you enough. May we honor you through our medical careers as stewards of your ultimate gift.

On the 1 year anniversary of receiving our white coats, we all gathered together for a class-wide photo. This past year, when school seemed overwhelming and medicine felt daunting…as we questioned what being a physician means and where we see ourselves fit, we’ve leaned on each other as classmates, friends, and family. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve aged (way more than a year), and our bonds have gotten stronger and more real than we ever imagined. We wouldn’t be here today without each other, and that’s something to celebrate!

Cheers to being the Covid class, and here’s to starting clerkships in January!

As we don the white coat, we understand that it is not only a first step into a lifelong career, but also an induction into a family of healthcare workers where we promise to support our fellow providers through thick and thin. The MCG Class of 2024 would like to help a dream come true for one of our dearest nurses Mrs. Meredith mcGee in her battle against breast cancer. Her life long dream has been to attend an Ellen DeGeneres show so we are doing our best to make that dream a reality. PLEASE SHARE AND TAG Ellen DeGeneres ON YOUR SOCIALS AND TAG MCG Class of 2024 TO HELP US SUPPORT OUR INCREDIBLE MCG FAMILY!!!

For our first student spotlight, we have the wonderful Madeline Snipes! She’s from Columbus, GA and has a B.S. in biology and a minor in art history from UGA.

Madeline’s in medical school because she views medicine “as an act of compassion and love for the most vulnerable members of our communities.” In her free time, you can find her on the second floor of the Greenblatt library or running on the greenway. Here at MCG, she serves as the secretary of Student Patient Allies, the MCG representative for STARS, an Academic House social chair, and a senator for House G.

Fun facts about Madeline is that she’s the biggest foodie (but can always appreciate the simplicity of a good hot dog), loves Boston terriers, and proclaims that she’s the biggest UGA fan in our class. Do we have any contenders??

Swipe to see Madeline in all her forms!

Kicking off pride month, we would like to spotlight Equality Clinic, an inter-disciplinary clinic that serves the under and un-insured LGBTQIA+ community of Augusta, GA and the surrounding areas. It was founded on the premise that no one should be denied healthcare on the account of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Services they provide include primary care, gender affirming care, HIV rapid testing (in partnership with the AU Ryan White Program), dental screening, HPV screening, and behavioral health specialists. The medical student coordinators are Navya Ravoori, Anish Sangari, Maddie Schlafly, Preethi Reddi, Umasai Kandepu, Conner Clark, Rachel Kaufman, and Ahana Gaurav.

Shoutout to Equality Clinic for all they do for the community! Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈 Stay tuned for our future spotlights.

Congratulations to the Medical College of Georgia Class of 2024 for officially receiving their white coats! This ceremony marks years of hard work and a lifelong commitment to service and healing. Thank you to all the supportive family and friends who tuned into our livestream yesterday and a special shoutout to all our MCG leadership for your kind words on such a memorable (and chilly) day. This ceremony may have looked different than what any of us expected, but it is a stark reminder of how much each of us have overcome, and will continue to overcome together as the future of medicine. Each of the students who donned their white coat yesterday deserved every second of that moment. May your white coats be clean and your smiles bright!

Join MCG’s Class of 2024 as they officially receive and don their white coats today. The ceremony will begin at 11 am and can be viewed here (https://www.augusta.edu/stream/).

Signifying official induction into medical school training, the iconic short white coat is presented to students in a ceremony during their first year. The white coat is a powerful symbol of professionalism and transformation as first-year medical students embark on their journey to serving humanity for the rest of their lives.

Once all students are coated, the class oath will be read. This ceremony is a very special event in the life of a medical student and we are so honored to have you (virtually) join us!

This week, we celebrated our return back to school with getting vaccinated against Covid-19! We are so thankful to AU Health for the opportunity as well as every single individual working so hard to create and distribute these vaccines. What an honor!
