Hello Again Maybe Runner,
If you’re still on the fence about joining us on Tuesday (tomorrow), please read this post. Today we’re introducing you to Coach Laura. She’s widely known for her positive attitude and cheerful spirit…just look at this photo.
Her story, and the registration link are posted down below. Hope to see you on Tuesday!
❤️
Amy

Laura says: “I think really, what running and doing races does for me is gives me confidence in myself. It helps me to see that I should not complain about myself or discount my capabilities when there are so many people who can’t even take one step. It’s my way to show my children (and now my grandchildren) that they are fully capable of ANYTHING. The “I can’t” attitude NEVER has a place in my house. I feel like by doing these seemingly impossible things, maybe I’m helping just one person to see that they CAN take that first step, they CAN get out of bed, they CAN live a fully happy life. It just takes one step.
I battled depression when my kids were little. I really think running and pushing myself the way I do is a major reason I haven’t gone back down that road. When the kids were younger, Marc and I used to call running “My Prozac.” I don’t really think about that time in my life much anymore. But I think, after writing all this, that it’s still true. Running keeps me grounded and is a reminder of all I’m capable of.

Dear Very Nervous Maybe Runner…
Our new round of Couch to 5k starts next Tuesday. We have a really nice group of 15 or so running friends waiting for you. Nervous? So are we. It’s always hard to meet new people, put ourselves out there, and worry about maybe not getting it right. Even after so many rounds of coaching this program, it’s still intimidating!
Today, meet Coach Hazel 💪
~Amy

Hazel is a long, long, long time KVCer. She has run 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, a full marathon…and most recently some Hyrox races!
But that’s not what she’s most famous for around these parts. Hazel is known and loved by all, for being the swimmer who will NOT GIVE UP. Hazel came to us, not knowing how to swim. On top of that, she was extremely nervous about swimming. Through the years, Hazel become a very strong and fast swimmer, but those nerves wouldn’t quit. Through successful pool triathlons, sprint and Olympic triathlons, the nerves would not leave her alone. Finally, Hazel decided that she wouldn’t hold back, she’d invite her nerves along with her, and they would do Ironman Maine 70.3. Can you even imagine? Getting into the Kennebec River, about to swim 1.2 miles, filled to your forehead with anxiety?! Hazel can. She got in the water, and did it. She finished the 70.3, just a few minutes under the cutoff that day, having fully coexisted with her fears. Hazel is the strongest, bravest woman we’ve got at KVC. If you want to step up, and you’re scared, take this chance to be coached by Hazel. You will be changed.

See you on Tuesday 💪

KVCers Past & Present! We are working on a project that needs lots of KVC memories. We are in search of both individual and group experiences, whether you’re a long timer or came briefly. So many things have happened through the years, it’s actually impossible to remember them all. If you have a standout memory (or a few!), please comment or send a message.
Thanks ♥️👟🥞

Dear Friends of KVC,
We’re back in action over here, and I’m a lil bit rusty. Today I’ve offered the first KVC personal training sessions in a few years, and so far I’ve:
1. Eaten a sandwich while someone was doing box jumps, and
2. Paid someone over Venmo for coming in for a workout
It’s like I never left 🥪💸🙂
Send a message if you’d like to make money watching me eat while you exercise.
Love,
Amy
