Our Ball Python Biology Program isn’t about simply having a snake at school. Professor Sunny is not a school pet—he is an educational animal and part of a carefully designed learning experience.

Through our partnership with Not Normal Exotics, our students and staff will have access to knowledgeable guidance and hands-on opportunities that help bring biology off the page and into the real world. Students will explore anatomy, genetics, animal behavior, habitats, husbandry, scientific observation, data collection, and—most importantly—respect for living things.

And Professor Sunny isn’t the only one learning! As he acclimates to his new home, we’re learning right alongside him. Every observation, professional visit, question, and new discovery becomes another opportunity to teach our students what responsible care and authentic science look like.

This is what we mean by REAL learning—not just reading about science, but observing it, asking questions, learning from experts, and experiencing it.

Who said there can’t be JOY, CONNECTION, SUPPORT, and BELONGING in learning?

This past week at DeKel mPact, our learners—from our youngest to our oldest—didn’t just learn about social-emotional skills.
They experienced them. 💙💛

Our students learned that:
🌱 It’s okay to have feelings.
🌱 It’s okay to express those feelings.
🌱 It’s okay to ask for support.
🌱 It’s okay to support someone else.
🌱 And there is POWER in knowing you are part of a team.

As we introduced our Social-Emotional Learning, students began exploring what it means to recognize their emotions, understand the energy they bring into a space, build healthy connections, and know they don’t have to navigate everything alone.
