The Jororo Native Village is located inside BOGGY CREEK AIRBOAT ADVENTURES!! In addition to the BOGGY BOTTOM BBQ, amazing AIRBOAT RIDES, Mining Ruff and Feeding the Gators you can take a journey back in time and learn how one family would live right here in the Headwaters of the Everglades 500 years ago on Lake Tahoepekaliga! Take a trip back in time with a narrative walk through camp! With demonstrations and skills used in this time period called Mississippian you will leave with a better understanding of how one family would have lived right where you are standing 500 years ago! And also understand why they were called "The Jororo! The forgotten tribe of Florida"!! The demonstrations through Village:
Cooking skills
Hut building
Youth teachings
Tool making and uses

Winter hut has been turned into a museum with original artifacts dating from Paleo Man to Mississippian Mound Builders! Great time for questions and more visual demonstrations. Archery concession also available!! Free lessons for those who don’t know how to shoot. Offering 3 different programs that are one hour long:
1)The Village walk through
2)The evolution of the weapon
3)The Gator Hunt

On June 17, CSPD was notified that Howard the tortoise had been stolen from a local pet store. Detectives quickly followed up on information provided by the store and were able to identify a suspect.

On Thursday, June 18, 2026, the suspect was located at a local hotel and taken into custody, but Howard was not there. Detectives continued their investigation, conducted additional interviews, and were able to determine Howard’s location.

Thankfully, Howard was safely recovered and reunited with his owner.

This is a great example of what can happen when our community partners with CSPD. Information shared by the pet store, witnesses, and the public’s involvement on social media helped detectives develop the leads needed to bring Howard home.
