Today’s fall department retreat showcased the strength and innovation of our Auburn University Geosciences Department faculty and staff. The energy, bold ideas, and collaborative spirit made it clear our best days are ahead of us.
Our time at the Kreher Nature Preserve gave us space to walk, talk, connect, and think deeply as a team about the year ahead, all while surrounded by the beauty of our naturwal world. With our move to the new STEM+Ag Complex, our momentum is unmistakable.
We’re ready for fall semester and excited to welcome our students back on Monday.

2026 CaGIS Student Research Scholarship.
The Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS) is one of the leading professional organizations in cartography and GIScience. It supports research, education, and innovation in mapping and geographic information science, serves as the U.S. representative to the International Cartographic Association (ICA), and has recognized outstanding graduate student researchers through its annual Student Research Scholarship program since 2013.
Looking through the list of scholarship recipients and their advisors since the program began in 2013, I believe I am the first student from Auburn University's Department of Geosciences to receive this honor. It is truly a privilege to represent Auburn Geosciences on this distinguished list of awardees. The official list of award winners and advisor names is available here:
