AUDITION NOTICE: Music & More Children’s Theater Young Singer Actor workshop holds auditions for Trolls The Musical Jr. on Wednesday, September 9th and 16th at 3:30 to 5:00 pm. The class is located at Music & More Performing & Visual Arts Center in North Auburn. This class session is from September 9th - December 6th. Just released in May 2026, Trolls The Musical JR. is a vibrant, high-energy stage adaptation developed through the DreamWorks Theatricals/MTI Emerging Writers Program. Featuring a book and lyrics by Krista Knight and music and lyrics by Joriah Kwamé. The colorful, optimistic world of the DreamWorks film franchise comes to life with a terrific, custom-written score and contemporary songs tailored specifically for young and school-aged performers 6 - 18. The story features a well-rounded distribution of roles for boys and girls and centers heavily on friendship, optimism, self-expression, and the power of music. The bright, glittery costumes, vibrant modern choreography, and imaginative, colorful sets combine to create an approachable joyful vehicle that will build confidence for young casts and techs while serving up guaranteed family-friendly entertainment.
Synopsis of Trolls The Musical Jr
As Trollstice approaches, King Gristle and the Trolls prepare an unforgettable theatrical celebration to honor the friendship between Bergens and Trolls. However, excitement turns to panic when the notoriously cruel Princess Marie Bergenette announces her arrival amid rumors that she has already devoured the Trolls of France and may be planning to reignite the old tradition of eating Trolls. Faced with the impossible task of impressing their intimidating guest, Poppy, Branch, and the Trolls abandon their original performance and decide to create a bold new adaptation of Troll Hamlet. While Poppy transforms the classic tragedy into a colorful comedy packed with music and dance, Branch worries they are losing the heart of the story. Meanwhile, Chef secretly plots to convince Marie to put Trolls back on the menu, threatening the peace everyone has worked so hard to build.
As rehearsals spiral into chaos, King Gristle attempts to win Marie's approval by embracing her cruel behavior, only to become caught up in her influence. At the same time, Bridget uncovers clues suggesting she may actually be Marie's long-lost twin and the rightful heir to the Bergen throne. When Chef sabotages the Trollstice performance, Poppy, Branch, and the cast refuse to give up, improvising a hilarious new show built from palace gossip that finally wins Marie over. Chef's scheme is exposed, Bridget is recognized as the true princess, Marie discovers a newfound passion as a theatre critic, and the kingdom celebrates Trollstice together, proving that creativity, courage, and friendship can triumph over fear and tradition.
Character Breakdown
Poppy
Queen of the Trolls, has a positive attitude and infectious can-do spirit. Poppy does it all: sings, dances, acts, directs, and writes, all while inspiring those around her.
Branch
Poppy’s counterpart, is a serious- minded Troll. Though Branch is pessimistic at times, he ultimately wants what’s best for Poppy and the rest of the Trolls.
King Gristle
The likeable young Bergen monarch, might lack ruling experience, but he makes up for it with his great friendship with all Trolls. King Gristle should have a great sense of comic timing and should pair well with Bridget.
Chef
A scheming, egomaniacal Bergen with a taste for Trolls.
Bridget
She a sweet and soft-spoken Bergen. Though she’s a bit naïve, Bridget is a true romantic and is willing to go the extra mile to help King Gristle.
Marie Bergenette
A spoiled princess from a powerful Bergen kingdom overseas. Cast a stellar actor and a strong singer who can command the stage with Marie’s larger- than-life personality. Marie could have a French accent, so long as the audience can clearly understand the actor onstage.
Biggie
A large, cuddly Troll who goes nowhere without his friend Mr. Dinkles, a sock puppet voiced by the actor playing Biggie.
Guy Diamond
A cheeky, glitter-covered
Troll with a signature autotune voice.
Cooper
A goofy Troll who loves parties and farts cupcakes.
Satin
Satin and Chenille are conjoined fashionista Troll twins.
