“Freshman Forum is one of those experiences that it’s hard to put into words. It’s a place to come to every week where you’re challenged by unique perspectives and you’re empowered by people that see your vision. It gave me people to lean on, to grow through Auburn with and to help me dream BIG. Forum gave me the opportunity to see and touch corners of Auburn’s campus that I didn’t even know existed. It rooted a sense of belonging in me and gave me mentors that I still rely on to this day, but it was a fellow forumer that I looked up to the most. Alana and I met through Forum and it’s something we share gratitude for each and every day! She makes me a better person and watching her walk in purpose at Auburn is one of my greatest joys. You never know what person might be waiting on the other side of an application or an interview, because sometimes it will be your best friend!”

“Applying for Freshman Forum has been one of the most impactful decisions I’ve made since I’ve been at Auburn. It introduced me to the most driven and inspiring peers and mentors that emphasized the importance of bettering the Auburn community. I was encouraged to put myself out there and get involved on campus and that has been so formative to my time here. More than the professional skills I gained from Forum, it introduced me to Sophia. Through her I have learned what it means to be a leader. She’s the first person I call and share not only successes but the moments of growth. I am so incredibly proud to call her my friend. Sophia has shown me true friendship over the past two years I have known her and I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes in the future.”

It’s and today we hear from Kate and Riley! Friends from day 1, they have grown both in leadership and even closer with each other (they’re roommates!), and they have Forum to thank!

“Freshman Forum was the most impactful thing I’ve been apart of during my time at Auburn. Coming into Auburn not knowing many people and finding Forum on the concourse gave me professional and personal skills I will carry with me always. More than any skill forum gave me Riley. Getting to know Riley in Forum has turned into two years living together, being on an SGA team together, and more memories than I can count. She is joy in human form and my favorite person to do everything with. Getting to watch Riley now serve as Miss Auburn has been so fun, and I’m so proud of how she’s handled her role with immense grace and humility. If only our freshman year selves could see us now, they wouldn’t believe it! Applying for Freshman Forum changed my life in more ways than I could put in a paragraph, Riley is just the tip of the iceberg. Thank you Forum for a friendship that will last a lifetime!” - Kate

“Freshman Forum has been one of the biggest blessings of my college experience. Not only did it grow me in a professional aspect, but it also gave me friendships that have blossomed throughout college, one of those being my friendship with Kate! Kate and I became close through Freshman Forum and are now roommates. Because of our love for Forum, we continued to be involved with SGA and had the chance to serve on a team for Opportunities together. I love getting to watch Kate shine as AVP of Cabinet Administration, and I know she will be a humble leader to the forum directors and members this upcoming year. I could not imagine college without Kate, who is always first to encourage and cheer others on. Spending so much time together is an absolute gift and I will always love the memories we have shared, SGA or not. Kate is always a listening ear and brings so much light wherever she goes, no matter the circumstance. I hope everyone finds a Kate in their lifetime, I was just lucky enough to meet her in forum!” - Riley

Happy and last day of July! Today Jasmine told us about a sweet friendship she found, and how Forum impacted her Auburn experience!

“Forum was truly one of the greatest blessings of my freshman year. Being surrounded by some of the most hardworking, high achieving students I’d ever known every Thursday pushed me to become the best version of myself. Forum is made up of students that inspire each other to do incredible things and I am confident I would not be the person I am today without it. The relationships I built during my time have been the most special part, even meeting one of my best friends to this day, shoutout Evie! Forum gave me the confidence that I have what it takes to become a true Auburn woman, and I am forever grateful for both the skills and lifelong friends it has gifted me.” -Jasmine Clark

SEC Exchange 2026! Last week, our Executive team had the opportunity to travel to Starkville and collaborate with other members of student governance. They were able to discuss initiatives, present on Hey Day, and collaborated with counterparts, all while making meaningful memories together! We are thankful for our student leaders and advisors!

Our this week comes from rising senior Ginny Tate May! She is from Tuscaloosa, AL and is studying Journalism with a minor in political science!

“I was encouraged by older students to get plugged into organizations at Auburn that aligned not only with my goals, but also with my passions and values. Lobby Board ended up being the perfect combination of all of those things. Through Lobby Board, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of government, lobbying, and the legislative process, while also finding a community of students who are genuinely passionate about public policy and making a difference. What has always stood out most to me about Lobby Board is the people. It’s a group made up of students with different perspectives, experiences, and ideas, yet everyone is united by a willingness to learn from one another. Some of my favorite conversations and friendships have come from the dynamic of agreeing to disagree while still respecting and challenging each other in meaningful ways. Lobby Board has given me opportunities to grow professionally, build confidence in advocating for others, and develop skills that extend far beyond politics. More than anything, it gave me a place at Auburn where I felt encouraged to learn, lead, and belong. Lobby Board was my first real Auburn “yes,” and it truly helped shape my college experience into what it is today.“

A mid-July and this week we get to collaborate with War Eagle Girls and Plainsmen to feature some friends from forum who went on to serve our campus as War Eagle Girls and Plainsmen! We are so proud of how they represent Auburn, and two of their executive members hopped on to tell us how Forum gave them the tools to lead!

“Freshman Forum was one of the best experiences I had at Auburn because it kickstarted not only my involvement, but also friendships that have lasted all four years. One of my best friends always jokes that everyone we know at Auburn is someone I met in Freshman Forum, and honestly, it’s pretty true! From Forum, to SGA Cabinet, and now to WEGP with so many of the same people, Forum gave me a place to invest in Auburn early while growing as a leader. The night of WEGP callouts was so exciting and overwhelming, but as soon as I found out I’d be taking it on with four of my fellow Forumers, I instantly felt more at ease. If you’re looking for a place to get involved and you’re passionate about serving Auburn, Freshman Forum is the best place to start. You won’t regret it!” - Mary Hogan Glenn

“Freshman Forum was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had at Auburn. It gave me far more than leadership opportunities; it introduced me to some of my closest friends and surrounded me with people who were passionate about the betterment of Auburn. Together, we worked together to serve our campus and community, and in the process, I learned what it truly means to lead through service. The confidence, leadership skills, and relationships I gained through Freshman Forum also transferred to organizations like the War Eagle Girls and Plainsmen, and I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am today without the foundation Forum provided. If you’re looking for a community that will invest in you, challenge you to grow, and allow you to make a lasting impact on Auburn, Freshman Forum is the place to be.
