Meet recent BFA in Studio Art graduate Blake Urbin, who graduated this spring with a concentration in animation.

At Auburn, studio art students work closely with professors as they develop their portfolios. We asked Blake's Senior Project professor, Sara Gevurtz, to tell us more about Blake's project:

"Blake is a 3D animator who plans to focus on character animation after graduation. His senior project provided an opportunity to further refine his overall 3D animation skills. Through his short animated film, Blake transports viewers to a world of knights and princesses, exploring the idea that chivalry remains a virtue worth striving for."

Meet recent BFA in Studio Art graduate Julia Ahn, who graduated this spring with a concentration in animation.

At Auburn, studio art students work closely with professors as they develop their portfolios. We asked Julia's Senior Project professor, Sara Gevurtz, to tell us more about Julia's project:

"Julia is an animator interested in using the medium to communicate topics that, while she may not have directly experienced them herself, she feels strongly about. She believes that storytelling through animation can raise awareness and foster understanding of the issues she explores. In her senior project, for example, she created a short 2D animation focused on sexual assault, drawing on her Korean heritage to shape the setting and context of the work."

Meet recent BFA in Studio Art graduate Christine Pham, who graduated this spring with a concentration in photography, and a double major in Environmental Design.

At Auburn, studio art students work closely with professors as they develop their portfolios. We asked Christine's Senior Project professor, Visiting Assistant Professor Tianquitao Chen, to tell us more about Christine's project:

"Christine created her beautiful senior project to explore her family history, Vietnamese cultural heritage, and complex personal identity. She demonstrated a passion for tangible materiality and interdisciplinary exploration in the production process of her project. Christine’s conceptual strength and technical versatility in art and design equip her to engage with complex challenges through curiosity, observation, and contextual awareness."

Meet recent BFA in Studio Art graduate Autumn Harless, who graduated this spring with a concentration in sculpture.

At Auburn, studio art students work closely with professors as they develop their portfolios. We asked Autumn's Senior Project professor, Kristen Tordella-Williams, to tell us more about Autumn's project:

"Autumn has explored many media in her time in the DAAH, like woodworking, foundry, steel fabrication, hand-built clay, and mixed media outdoor pieces. For her Senior Project, Autumn created large-scale female figures using steel, hardware cloth, and paper pulp. She created two voluptuous figures, both at rest and comfortable in their environment. Despite using hard, industrial materials, once the final forms were coated with paper pulp, they appeared like three-dimensional figure drawings. Autumn combined her interest in the female figure with her many technical skills to create two compelling final sculptures."
