I’m small and red with seeds on my skin,
I’m sweet and juicy from outside in.
Add me to a cereal or a smoothie blend,
I’m a tasty snack from end to end!
What am I?

Oranges and lemons are two of the most popular citrus fruits and pack a punch when it comes to vitamins. Both are rich in Vitamin C which supports your immune system.
Squeeze a lemon in a glass of water to add flavor.

With the weather nice and warm, take your meals outside and fire up the grill!
Grilled veggies are a simple, healthy, and delicious way to enjoy the season. From zucchini and bell peppers to mushrooms and corn, toss them in a little oil, add your favorite fresh herbs, and you’ve got a flavor-packed side or main dish.
Herbs like rosemary, basil, or thyme take the taste to the next level, without extra salt or calories!
Eat well, grill smart, and enjoy the sunshine.

A Lowndes County AU EFNEP participant joined believing she was already eating well, but a food tracking activity revealed hidden fats and added sugars in her diet. By learning to read labels and making small, practical changes, she discovered new ways to enjoy healthier foods like a crunchy chicken salad made with yogurt and celery that quickly became a favorite. By the end of the program, she proudly celebrated her progress and confidence, showing how hands-on learning can build lasting healthy habits beyond the classroom.

Got active kids? Let’s fuel their play the right way!
Kids who run, practice, and play sports need the right balance of food and fluids to stay energized and strong.
Fuel before activity: Offer a small snack with carbs + protein 1–2 hours before (like peanut butter toast or yogurt with fruit).
Hydration matters: Water is usually all they need! Encourage sips before, during, and after activity. Electrolyte drinks, such as low-sugar Gatorade, may be helpful after prolonged intense activity.
Refuel after play: Help muscles recover with a mix of carbs + protein (like chocolate milk, a turkey sandwich, or cheese and crackers).
Build strong habits: Focus on regular meals with fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins, not just “game day” nutrition.
Healthy fuel = more energy, better focus, and more fun on the field.
