Detachment 005 is a unit of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) which operates out of Auburn University. As an AFROTC unit, our mission charge is to develop quality leaders for the Air Force; more specifically, to produce the best Air Force Officers who go on to serve in our Nation's military. As an AFROTC cadet, your life looks fairly similar to a typical college student on the outside. However, behind the facade of civilian wear, our cadets develop over the span of their undergraduate degrees into an elite group of extremely professional Air Force Officers of high character and sound judgement. Here at Det 005, we pride ourselves in our fine history of commissioned officers. Will you be one of the few who carries on our trend of excellence? Mary Doiron, a call at the number below and schedule your detachment tour today!

Training Week 7 in the books!

This week kicked off with station workouts, challenging our strength, endurance, and teamwork during PT.

At LLAB, cadets got their first introduction to the Air Expeditionary Force (AEF) through hands-on training stations covering Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TTTC), Base Defense, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). These scenarios gave us a glimpse into the skills and teamwork required to operate in deployed environments while preparing us for future leadership opportunities.

Every week brings new challenges and new opportunities to learn, grow, and become better Wingmen. Aim High!

Training Week 6 complete!

This week started with interval track workouts and upper-body station training, pushing cadets to build both speed and strength.

During LLAB, cadets put their skills to the test with a mock ORI, gaining valuable practice in inspection procedures and attention to detail. BC and BCL cadets also had the opportunity to strengthen relationships during a sister flight event, while POC continued developing as leaders through current events briefs and leadership analysis discussions.

Hard work, leadership, and teamwork were on full display all week long. See you in Training Week 7!

TW05 ✓

Another great week of training! PT challenged cadets with an AMRAP workout and interval runs, building both strength and endurance while motivating one another along the way.

This week, we also celebrated the 79th birthday of the United States Air Force with our annual birthday run, honoring the legacy of those who have served before us.

During LLAB, our AS100s and AS200s completed quizzes before continuing marching stations and learning proper flag folding. Our POC focused on practicing ORI procedures as they continue preparing to lead with confidence.

One step closer to becoming leaders of character. Aim High!

TW04 Det 005 leaned into the work.

At PT, we hit circuit stations and interval runs, pushing the pace and staying disciplined together. In LLAB, the AS 100s refined quiz skills and drilled the details, building confidence rep by rep. The AS 200s executed squadron marching, tightening formations and standards, while the POC focused on wargaming and thoughtful feedback briefs.

To close the week, we honored the 9/11 legacy with a memorial stair climb, a quiet, powerful reminder of why we serve.

Proud of Det 005, keep up the hard work!

Detachment 005 and the Auburn community honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, the first responders who courageously answered the call, and the service members who have defended our nation since.

Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Another week of growth As Det 005 completes TW03!

This week, cadets continued sharpening their skills through leadership development, PT, and drill.

Our AS100s took their first quiz and continued worked on building marching fundamentals, while our AS200s delivered a current events brief to stay sharp on today’s issues and tested their knowledge with a quiz before honing squadron marching and teambuilding skills.

Meanwhile, the POC put their decision-making and leadership skills to work during war games, preparing for the challenges ahead.

PT kicked off with a diagnostic PFRA, giving cadets a chance to measure current fitness. The best part is seeing everyone push forward together, encouraging each other every step of the way.

Every week brings new opportunities to learn, lead, and improve!

TW02 Complete ✓

As we get into the full swing of the semester, the intensity of training has continued to increase!

Our AS100s have continued developing their marching fundamentals while learning to adapt to different situations and environments. Our AS200s built on their flight marching foundations by progressing into squadron marching.

Our POC have been working hard to uphold the standard while developing new training methods and leading the wing throughout the semester.

During PT, all cadets pushed themselves through a combination of strength training and cardio circuits, maintaining a positive attitude and motivating one another every step of the way.

The semester is off to a strong start, and we’re excited to see the continued growth and improvement of every cadet. Here’s to another great week of training!
