Congratulations to Dr. Jeffrey LaMondia, Elton and Lois Huff Professor, on being recognized with the 2026 Auburn Authors Award!

This prestigious honor celebrates faculty whose scholarly work has made a significant impact through published research and creative contributions. Dr. LaMondia received the award for a book developed in collaboration with Auburn Extension's Thrive Community team, bringing together years of work helping Alabama communities improve safe access to walking and cycling. The book's impact has extended far beyond Alabama, with communities across the country adopting it as a resource to create safer, more connected places to live, walk, and bike.

We are proud to see Dr. LaMondia's commitment to research, outreach, and community impact recognized at the university level. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!

From a small Alabama town to a distinguished Auburn alumna, Casey Robinson Troutman, BCE '00, MSCE '04, MBA '04, has embodied the Auburn spirit throughout her journey.

A 2026 Black Alumni Award recipient, Casey's connection to Auburn began long before college. After choosing Auburn as her team in the third grade, she later attended the Minority Introduction to Engineering (MITE) program in high school, where she was introduced to engineering design and discovered her passion for Civil Engineering.

Among her favorite Auburn memories are game days on campus and the sense of community that makes Auburn special.

"Whether walking across campus, gathering with friends and family, or celebrating Auburn traditions, those moments reinforce what it truly means to be a part of the Auburn Family."

As a civil engineer, Casey recalls the excitement of beginning her first full-time position after graduation and seeing the concepts she learned in the classroom come to life on construction sites.

Congratulations to Casey Robinson Troutman on this well-deserved recognition and for representing the Auburn Family and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering with excellence.

âš˝ The world game comes to Auburn.

Before the Civil Engineers get turned loose on the North End Zone Project, the world champion Argentina national football team takes on the Iceland national football team in a Road to '26 international friendly at Jordan-Hare Stadium on June 9. This historic match marks the first soccer game ever played in Jordan-Hare and serves as a World Cup tune-up ahead of the 2026 tournament.

Advancing stormwater treatment through innovation đź’§

Congratulations to Grace Houde on her 1st place win in the Three Minute Thesis competition at the national ASCE Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI) conference!

Grace's research explores the use of electro flocculation for stormwater runoff management, improving the removal of suspended sediment and pollutants without pumps, filters, or chemical additives. By applying proven electrochemical treatment methods in a new field setting, the work demonstrates how scientific principles can be transformed into practical, sustainable stormwater infrastructure solutions.

Congratulations Rebecca Etter, a 2026 Outstanding Doctoral Student! 🎉

“I chose Auburn because of its small-town atmosphere with big-time research opportunities,” and throughout her time at AU CEE, Rebecca has made the most of every opportunity through impactful research, leadership, and a passion for teaching.

Within Dr. Maxcy-Brown's research group, Rebecca's research focuses on “the affordability of private wells and septic systems” and the critical role they play in protecting public and environmental health. As she shared, “It is eye opening how many people lack access to basic sanitation. Hint: It’s not just limited to other countries! It could even be your neighbors!”

One of her favorite Auburn memories was seeing WESA receive an Involvement Award for Excellence in Communication — a moment where she and her fellow executive team members were “absolutely floored!”

After earning her PhD, Rebecca hopes to “return to [her] teaching roots” by pursuing a role at an undergraduate-focused university.

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! 👏

An award-winning Spring Semester for WESA 💧🏆

WESA members made an impact from Auburn to Mobile — participating in local stream cleanups, supporting the community, and showcasing research at the AL/MS Water Conference, where four members presented posters during the Fresh Ideas Poster Competition.

WESA was also recognized at the Auburn Involvement Awards as a finalist for:
🏅 Excellence in Communication and Marketing (RSO/SSO)
🏅 Excellence in Career Readiness (RSO/SSO)
🏅 Student Organization Supporter of the Year Award for Whitney Zirkle (BCE '16), WESA’s AWWA Young Professional (YP) advisor who truly does so much for the organization!

The chapter went on to earn first place for the Excellence in Communication and Marketing (RSO/SSO) Involvement Award! 🎉

To close out an incredible semester, WESA was also named the 2026 AAEC Outstanding Organization Award recipient by the Auburn Alumni Engineering Council in the large engineering organization category (>100 members).

Congratulations to all of our WESA members on an outstanding spring semester filled with leadership, service, research, and recognition! 👏

🎉A big congratulations to our 2026 Stone Leadership Award recipient, Morgan Johnson.

Morgan is involved with multiple organizations within Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. She also makes time outside of the classroom to give back to the community. These reasons, and more, are why she is receiving the 2026 Stone Leadership Award.

The Stone Leadership Award promotes the development of leadership abilities in Auburn’s Civil and Environmental Engineering undergraduates. The award was established by Jeffrey I. and Linda J. Stone to recognize students who have exhibited outstanding leadership beyond the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Join us in congratulating India Warren, our 2026 Outstanding Student in Civil Engineering, on this well-deserved recognition! 🎉

One of India’s favorite Auburn CEE memories was touring the North End Zone renovation project at Jordan-Hare Stadium through both class visits and ASCE. Experiencing multiple phases of construction firsthand allowed her to connect concepts learned in the classroom to a real-world project and gain valuable insight into the engineering and construction process.

In Spring 2026, India graduated Summa Cum Laude with her BCE as a University Honors Scholar, and started her Master's program this summer.

After earning her MS, India plans to begin a career focused on steel design and construction before pursuing opportunities in forensic engineering and structural restoration. She is passionate about merging historical and innovative design, and looks forward to continuing her path toward professional licensure.
