This year Lakeland begins it's 60th year of "building the future." Our school is proud of its history and its tradition of quality education delivered by a dedicated and professional staff and supported by an active community. We are fortunate to have a new school constructed just last school year. Now that construction is complete we are ready to focus on our students and their families attending Lakeland for the 2012/2013 school year. Lakeland's enthusiastic spirit is felt as soon as you enter its doors. This is a child-centered environment where students needs are given the highest priority. Students are encouraged to grow in all subject areas, and each child is given the help he or she needs to be successful. Lakeland holds classes for 360 Kindergarten through 5th grade students. Many of our students also speak languages other than English and represent a multitude of cultures from around the world. The first and most important goal that we pursue is helping all students develop strong reading, math, and writing skills. Well-trained teachers and para-educators, mixed with tons of parental support form our PTA, keeps students constantly moving towards this goal. In addition to Lakeland's focus on the "basics," we encourage other areas of enrichment. The school offers a science fair, student clubs, participation in the annual PTA "Reflections" contest, and a self-manager program. Extended Learning Opportunities and many other programs and special events are also available for our students and their families.
