Congratulations to The Alabama Cooperative Extension System Family and Child Development team for receiving an Anti-Bullying Hero Award for the implementation of its "Be SAFE" program.
The Hero Award was created to honor individuals or groups who take the initiative to be "upstanders" and become an impetus for change in schools and communities. The award was given June 21 during the Hero Awards Luncheon at the Anti-Bullying Summit in Peachtree City, Ga.
The Auburn University College of Education Truman Pierce Institute and Office of Professional and Continuing Education (OPCE) hosted the summit, which provided teachers, school administrators, parents, community leaders, law enforcement, counselors, social workers, and mental health professionals with opportunities to learn ways to address the issue of bullying in schools and communities.
“Dr. Adrienne Duke (Assistant Professor & Extension Specialist) and the FCD Team are doing tremendous work to address bullying in Alabama," said Linda Dean with the Truman Pierce Institute.
Regional Extension Agents who are pictured with the award include (front row) Margaret Odom, Wanda Carpenter, and Debra Ward, and (back row) Synithia Williams, Leigh Akins, and Sallie Ho**er.
