Do you have student loan debt and are counting on Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)?

There has been some discussion in the news about borrowers seeing previously credited Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) payments adjusted or removed. NEA Member Benefits and SAVI are monitoring the situation closely for any developments that could impact borrowers’ PSLF eligibility or qualified payment counts.

In the meantime, take screenshots of your Student Aid account to document any “before and after” changes to qualified payment counts and reach out to Savi's support team if you notice any changes.

Happy September! I hope you all were able to have an amazing summer! To those of you who competed your summer quarter, congratulations!

I had such a great time this summer getting to work as a camp counselor and I feel like I’m coming into the school year with a lot of new skills, which is very exciting! While summer is a great time to rest and take adventures, it felt nice to also be constantly learning and picking up new habits to bring into my education.

The seasons are changing, which means fall quarter is right around the corner. I hope everyone who is moving and/or getting ready for the transition to school is having an easy time, and I’m wishing you the best of luck.

Going from summer to school can always feel a bit abrupt so, as always, if you need any support, please feel free to reach out to me or any of my fellow SWEA leadership.

This week, WEA President Janie White visited several schools with newly elected NEA President Princess Moss and Washington State Labor Council President April Sims.

Presidents Moss and Sims joined our WEA President to discuss the interconnection between WEA, NEA and WSLC, empowering members, centering members in their leadership, and supporting one another as they take the helm of the largest unions in our state and nation.
