When our brothers Frederick Norton Freeman and Arthur Chase founded our beloved Fraternity at Norwich University, they instilled many values into Theta Chi’s core beliefs. Those fortunate enough to call themselves brothers of Theta Chi fraternity are expected to stand by and uphold these original qualities; to “extol virtue, exact harmony, and extend a helping hand to all who seek it.” Chi Chapter

From Brother Jimmy Lehe:
Fall 2023
50th Anniversary Chi Chapter ΘΧ
1973 Initiation Class Reunion
Fifteen brothers convened on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Auburn home of hosts Pat and Carol O’Connor to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the fall 1973 initiation class. Brother Johnny Floyd shared in providing BBQ and refreshments, and Brother John Dodgen joined Pat and Johnny from the 1973 class. Alums from the late 1960’s through mid 1970’s added to the celebration, and many wives attended this memorable get together. Following the Friday reunion, many of the brothers reconvened the next day at the Theta Chi house before attending the Auburn vs. Mississipi State game and together cheered the Tigers’ 27-13 win.
Herbert Claybrook badly wanted to be there for our celebration but due to his terminal medical condition was unable. Brother Herbert, who was initiated in the spring of 1973, passed away the following January 8th to the Chapter Eternal after his courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home in Slidell, Louisiana.
This year, plans are in the works to follow up with a fall 2024 reunion at the O’Connors’ Auburn home during the weekend of the November 2 Auburn home game against SEC rival Vanderbilt. Mark your calendars now to join your Theta Chi brothers. We all look forward to reconnecting with our brotherhood.

Logan Parks (Chi/Auburn 2021) had a goal. As a lifelong fisherman and angler, he went to Auburn University to pursue a spot on the Auburn University Bass Fishing Team. Not only did he make it - he elevated it to heights even beyond his campus.

I found out earlier today that our brother and friend, Harry Strack, passed away last week. I was first introduced to Harry by Jack Waddey in the early 2000s when I was a young house corporation president and needed some help. Harry quickly became an old friend, if that makes any sense. He helped us navigate selling our former home at 712 West Magnolia as well as planning and building our current home at 935 Lem Morrison. While he was very helpful with the business aspects of those projects, his real passion was working directly with chapter leaders and guiding them to make good decisions rather than making every decision on their behalf.
Harry also took an active interest in the entire Theta Chi Fraternity organization and participated in many Conventions and other events. He understood and appreciated that Theta Chi extends far beyond the confines of Chi's chapter house or the Auburn city limits, and developed friendships with Theta Chi brothers from many chapters.
Harry never said no when asked to help. He held one of the shovels when we broke ground for our house, and he took great satisfaction in the final product. That is what these pictures represent - the beginning and end of a remarkable project in our chapter's history.
Harry was a good friend and I am going to miss him.

Thanks to YOUR generosity, thousands of Theta Chi collegians have received millions of dollars in academic scholarship and leadership training. 2021/2022 scholarship recipient 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲 (𝗖𝗵𝗶/𝗔𝘂𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬) shares why his scholarships from Theta Chi are so important.
“I received Foundation Chapter scholarships three out of my four years at Auburn. My scholarship not only lessened my financial burden, but also allowed me to focus more heavily on my academics, leadership positions, and volunteer work. I have continued my education at the UAB School of Medicine. I have dreamed of becoming a physician my entire life; I am so excited to be this close to reaching my goal. This allows me to worry less about my finances as I navigate through a rigorous curriculum, continue to volunteer in my community, and conduct research.”

The 2022 Founders Day Chapter Challenge is UNDER WAY!
Founders Day is a day to celebrate Theta Chi and all it has given us, and to give back by making a gift to the Foundation Chapter to extend a Helping Hand in their mission to support collegiate brothers with academic scholarships and leadership education opportunities.
There are two competitions this year that are described below but before we get to that, I want to explain how your contributions benefit our collegian brothers. The Foundation Chapter manages a few different endowed scholarships, like the Sherwood and Janet Roberts Blue Memorial Scholarship and the Victor Simon Memorial Scholarship. Over the past five academic years, eleven such scholarships have been awarded to members of Chi Chapter at Auburn University. In addition to these endowed scholarships, the Chapter Challenges that occur a few times each year make it possible for Theta Chi to offer high-quality leadership training at low to no cost to chapters or individual participants, including the undergraduate leaders of Chi Chapter. In recent years, specific officer training conferences have been held for ALL chapter Presidents, Vice Presidents of Health and Safety, Treasurers, Recruitment Chairmen and several other positions in each of Theta Chi’s 160+ chapters. Leadership education is a high priority for Theta Chi.
Now, on to the contest... Chi Chapter can win a tailgate, a catered food truck, or have an Auburn flag flown at the Theta Chi International Headquarters for a week. Last year, Chi Chapter came in third place overall, and fortunately one place ahead of our chapter at that school to the northwest that shall not be named. Our brothers and friends at our Alpha Phi chapter, as unfortunate as their school choice may be, are currently ahead of Chi Chapter in both the total donation amount and number of donors. We cannot allow this to happen. In addition to helping our collegian brothers access academic scholarships, leadership training and some good prizes, we need to show our Auburn spirit and beat our brothers from that other school.
Will you help make this happen? Please consider making a contribution of any amount at:
Chi Chapter’s Chapter Challenge Giving Page (https://giving.thetachi.org/campaigns/auburn #/)
The Chapter Challenge will end on Sunday, April 10 at 11:59 p.m. PST.
We have much to celebrate. Chi Chapter is one of the strongest chapters at Auburn and in all of Theta Chi. Please help us to continue our proud tradition and position of leadership.
