Math is the universal language! It’s connects all of us. People, nature, animals and it’s a part of everything that you do. Comment anything from your daily life & I’ll tell you how it’s connected to math!

Technology can be powerful in education when it’s used intentionally.

In my online tutoring sessions, I use Zoom as a space where learning becomes interactive. We annotate directly on the screen so students and I can work through problems together in real time.

One session I’m using my iPad and Apple Pencil to break down Algebra 2 problems step by step. Another, we turn fractions into a game of Battleship. In a different session, we use the whiteboard to practice multiplying decimals. And sometimes we bring in Khan Academy alongside live annotation to reinforce skills and practice independently.

No two sessions look the same, even when we’re working on the same topics. That’s the beauty of individualized online tutoring. It meets each student exactly where they are.

Reasons I love online tutoring part 1 ✨

One of my students brought her stuffed animal cat to our session today and suddenly “Bella” was answering the math questions in cat language 😭🐱

I think one of the most important parts of teaching is incorporating the things kids already love into learning. When students feel comfortable enough to be silly, creative, and fully themselves, learning becomes so much more fun and engaging.

These little moments honestly make my job the best.

One thing tutoring has taught me is that growth rarely happens overnight.

Confidence is usually built quietly through consistency, repetition, mistakes, and continuing to show up even before the results are visible.

I recently wrote a blog post about this after watching one of my students grow tremendously over the past few years. Watching things finally “click” for students is one of my favorite parts of teaching. ✨
