Rest In Peace Lucas Oest. His death would go in vain if I wasn’t honest about what happened to him.

Do you want to honor the memory of a wonderful classmate? Immediately help yourself or anyone close to you, who may be suffering from alcoholism!!! This man survived a massive battle with cancer, only to die by the bottle.

He came into the hospital with pancreas pain from over alcohol consumption. He walked in! It was a simple procedure to heal the pain. He began to detox during the procedure and became combative. They had no choice but to tranquilize him. Now Lucas is a large man and it took so much tranquilizer that they had to intubate him so he wouldn’t stop breathing. Days later, once he was up walking around and complying with directions, they removed the tube to send him home.

And just like that! His throat had a reaction to the removal of the tube. It closed, and he went into cardiac arrest. Just minutes before he was joking around with staff and now his heart stopped. They preformed CPR until he was revived, but it took too long to get him back. Once they were able to get him back and put him on life support, tests were done to see how much brain activity there was. There was none.

The family made the difficult decision to take him off life support and our dear friend slipped away peacefully at 1:30 this morning.

Ultimately it was a combination of the storms brought on by over consumption of alcohol that killed our friend. Please, if anyone you know and love, or even you, are struggling with addiction, please get help. He was way too young to die and he would want nothing more than to have his life honored by someone else’s sobriety.

OK friends Lucas’s mom, fiancé, and I were all by his bedside when they removed him off of life support. Please send your thoughts and prayers to him for a comfortable passing. We are reading all of your messages to him so he feels all of your love and warm memories of him during his passing

Lucas Oest update, yesterday he was put on DNR orders. The neurologist is supposed to review his brain scan findings to see if he has any brain activity. I’ve taken his girlfriend to see him the last five days in a row and we haven’t seen much improvement. At this point he is able to do little more then blink his eyes and chew on his oxygen tube. He does not respond to any verbal or physical stimulus. I’ll keep you updated as more information is shared to us by the doctors ~ Melyssa Descovich
