“This is who…” ✨

This is who plans the fundraisers, organizes the events, lesson plans, and keeps everything running behind the scenes.
This is who shows up early, stays late, and pours their hearts into our preschool.
This is who believes in building a strong, connected community for our kids.

💛 Our Board Members 💛

Parents, volunteers, cheerleaders, problem-solvers—and the reason our co-op thrives year after year.

We’re so grateful for the time, energy, and love they give to make this place so special.

Bringing a little piece of preschool home with us! 🚀✨

As a parent, one of my favorite (and most underrated) perks of FWCP is the take-home learning kits!

This morning at drop-off we snagged a space-themed kit and couldn’t wait to dive in! 🌎🔭

Inside were pattern blocks with spaceship templates, two picture books to read together, and detailed instructions including discussion topics and extended learning opportunities.

These themed kits are such a fun way to spark curiosity and keep the learning going at home. While my child builds spaceships and explores patterns, they’re also practicing the same skills they’re learning in class—like problem solving, early math, and literacy.

The best part? It turns learning into quality time together. Reading the books, building creations, and talking about space gives us a chance to connect, play, and learn side by side. 💫👩🏽‍🚀

Happy Holidays from all of us at Federal Way Cooperative Preschool! However you celebrate, we hope you’re warm and cozy, surrounded by love and laughter. ❄️✨

Here is a little throwback to our Jolly Holiday Pancake Breakfast earlier this month! Special thanks to our friends at for hosting us and whipping up a scrumptious breakfast! Thanks to for sending TWO princesses to celebrate with us, and to Santa for making time in his busy schedule to join us. 🎅🏻 🥞 👑

And of course, thank you to our stellar Fundraising Chair and her army of parent volunteers for making this fundraiser spectacularly successful and fun for everyone! ♥️

Leaves piling up in your yard? Get your kids a child-sized rake! 🍁🍂Raking leaves is a rich developmental activity for preschoolers! It might look like simple outdoor play, but it supports a wide range of learning and growth areas.

🌿 Physical Development
• Gross motor skills: Raking uses large muscle groups in the arms, legs, and core, helping strengthen coordination and balance.
• Fine motor coordination: Holding and maneuvering a child-sized rake builds hand–eye coordination and grip strength.
• Body awareness: Kids learn how their movements affect the environment (seeing leaves move or pile up as they rake).

🧠 Cognitive Development
• Problem-solving: They figure out how to move leaves effectively, how to make piles, and how to keep them together.
• Understanding cause and effect: Seeing immediate results — “When I push the rake this way, the leaves move!”
• Early math concepts: Sorting by color or size, counting piles, comparing which pile is bigger or smaller.

🤝 Social & Emotional Growth
• Cooperation and teamwork: Working together to rake, pile, or jump in leaves encourages collaboration and turn-taking.
• Responsibility: Helping with a “real job” gives children a sense of purpose and contribution.
• Patience and persistence: Raking takes effort — and wind or play may undo their work — giving practice in resilience and follow-through.

🎨 Creative & Sensory Play
• Sensory exploration: Leaves engage multiple senses — the crunch, the smell, the feel of different textures.
• Imaginative play: Piles of leaves become mountains, nests, or hiding spots for pretend play.
• Nature appreciation: Encourages curiosity about seasonal changes, trees, and the natural world.

🌞 Bonus Benefits
• Outdoor time: Fresh air and sunshine boost mood, focus, and overall well-being.
• Community connection: Helping care for the playground builds pride in their shared space.

So grab a cup of coffee and sit back and let your kids do the work (and play!) 😉🍂🍁🍃
